Many of you will know i used to help run a car audio business some years back and mentioned that it would be money well spent having a tracking system fitted to your pride and joy .

If theres enough interest i will go to a few of the tracking companies and get a deal for us .

We have to stop these scum bags and a tracker could find your car very quickly if stolen and may stop the theives nicking someone elses .

Let me know what you think

good idea but having looked into this in some depth previously they aren't cheap

they also provide no obvious deterrant to the thieves in the first place so unless they actually get collared as a result of the tracker in your car i don't see how they would cut down crime

having said that - i'm interested :)

i think they are your only hope of getting your pride + joy back, yes they are a bit pricey but when you look at the value of osf's atm its a no brainer imo. and wouldn't it be great if one was tracked back to a garage with loads of other stolen classics in?

Insurance companies insist on trackers for high priced vehicles .......... they do this cos they know the high volume of vehicles they get back!!

I offered similar deals since i came onto here, only had a few people interested though

Well hopefully more folks have woke up an seen the light, I remember well Savvi you offered it an nobody really took a bite, had i been closer mate i'd have gave you a buzz

well worth the pennies, when it comes to car security you really cant afford not to

... especially since an older car can be made to dissapear so easily without a trace

Are you looking insurance approved or just a normal personnal type Jay ?

I've got a deal in the offering of a cracking portable / wired tracker size of a matchbox text / email alerts cheap to buy & run !!!!

With all due respect i think you are not upto date with the modern tracking devices Mike.

The stuff Police had fitted years ago was very basic compared to whats available these days.

Click on here, you will need Silverlight for it to work, it's a microsoft product and is fine to let it load onto your Pc.

Username & passwords are demo, please do not change any settings, as it's not my system although i can supply these, just a good example of how good these things can be !!!!

Most modern trackers can have no antennas can be very small and yet still very accurate, i have them fitted to my vehicles and they show up within a few feet of where they are parked, enought to find the vehicle if you wanted to.

This is a tracker i use, these are screen prints of that tracker fitted in my car, shown parked at my old house a year or so ago, so no point in anyone calling round to nick any cars :D

I've posted this to try and show how good these things are these days !!!!

excuse me for being thick Sav but are you saying you can track the car yourself at any time and is there a subscription?

if thats the case then its gotta be worth the money

Posted

Yes you are correct .........

You buy a tracker, then either pay subs or use the Pay as you go top ups and you go on the net or via a mobile (iphone App in place) and you can watch it yourself or get email / text alerts if it's moved or goes outside of a set point.

Be aware this is not an insurance approved system hence the cost differance, approved systems are monitored 24hrs per day by call centres these are monitored by only you !!!!

Best system around for the money in my opinion banna man

Although they are now named a Cobra trak first, also the brand new one you can go on the web and track yourself

Does the one you have need to be on constant charge savi? Also someone told me if they cover the car I'n a tin foil that the tracker doesn't work? Is this true or isit a gone I'n 60 seconds trick  how much are you looking at for that one?

Posted

No tracker will work properly in something like a metal container, tin foil may deflect the signal slightly and make not so accurate, the good thing about them though is you can do a "history" trace, so in theory car gets moved, you get a text / email, you go onto the web and follow or see where it's gone.

Yes It can be put into a container, yes they could find & remove it, but at least you have a good idea of where it went to, giving you a chance of getting cctv pics or people in the area seeing it.

Theives tend to steal a car then park it somewhere for a few days wait to see if anyone turns up (they know if it's tracked people will) then if the coast is clear return amd move the car on.

Most trackers have "battery backup" so if the car battery is disconnected they will still track, the small one above runs on it's own battery can be wired in or you can recharge as needed, can last upto 25 days on a full charge, it will text you & you can see on the web panel when the battery level is low.

I just realised i've seemed to have taken Jays post over, not my intention so after a bit of searching i v'e found my original thread offering this unit back

in September 2010 !!!!!

I had one or two people who expressed interest, i needed a minuim of 10 to make it worthwhile for me to do, so it never happened.

Perhaps in light of the amount of thefts recently that may now change ?

Reading through my old post, i can confirm that the unit has now been updated so battery life last's 25 days if certain settings are used and it now tracks using twice as many signals.
