They prove time and again they can deliver the goods, a very rubust engine, were it not that they were quite so expensive to get power out of mine would stay put.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

There not exspensive to get good power from , set of forged pistons and a nice head and cam and some 45s will see 140-160 bhp depending on head and cam , ive just gone over board , steel components dont give more power there just stronger. bigger capacity will give you a little more power , cheaper than a standard 2.0 zetec on 45s as i said above with conversion cost with similar if not more power , unless you go for the st170 engine if iam correct

But 180-190+ will hurt my wallet nick :mrgreen: you any closer to getting back "that" engine for "that" car

LOL 180=190 will deffo hurt your wallet fella :) mines still sore from the thought of it , The car wink wink will have a fresh engine built for it next year once the engine thats in it now is sold ;) " P,S Not the cortina where talking about :) "

As long as Ive got my Anglia it will have a crossflow. Thinking about turbocharging it for fun. Got plenty of spare ones and bits and am always grabbing more , even seized rusty lumps

So what with Nick Williams superb WPE built 2 litre xflow recently on the road , Joe Little hitting the 12 seconds in his xflow a couple of weeks ago ,Fiesta Steve has a big power fwd xflow he has built for next year and of course not forgetting Toby,s legendary pre xflow i would say the kent engine is going to be about for a good few years yet ....

what,s everyone,s thoughts ????

dont forget little old me and my dad were both running x-flows and im trying ever so hard 2 get mine up and in the 12's with the trying of injection and my big cc

also not forgetting James harris was running 12's a few years back with a crossflow

ive still got one sat under a bench chugging along with a valencia still for now gotta squeeze a 17 out one of them before i go crossflow

A rubber lump running 169 bhp "12.7 3 years ago" with a removable plate front timing chain cover, we copied ours 30 odd years ago from Mass engineering & still make them for our own engines..

Dont forget that they are making these engines again in the USA for the Formula ford fraternity & we think these great engines are bullet proof..

Maybe 13.0 lol, but seriously that looks like an awesome engine if the figures are genuine! well over the magical 100bhp per litre!!

In fact 112 per litre!!! 8)

The rubber 1700 we built for my old car did 92 per liter, i was pretty happy with that. Id be over the moon if we could achieve 100 with the new motor.

fair play mate, as far as im aware there have only ever been 3 x flows, if you count Tobys pre x flow that have ever ran in the 12's, and to acheive that with a fwd car would be amazing!

I've got a nice 1700 stage 3 mothballed away in my garage for a future project, it will be dug out when the Cortina is finished next year, don't think they are fading away, just hiding!

I'm sure if he kept at it he could have ran a 12 but as it was he had the fastest FWD car in the country at that time.

In a way, I'm glad he never ran a 12 as it makes me want to do it more.

As far as I am aware no fwd n/a Ford has ever gone 12 seconds ??.. which I find incredible seen as it was nearly 20 years since Dave recorded that time and we have seen the launch of various power plants all of which are fwd (CVH/Zetec/Durachoc ETC..) yet no ones gone quicker (that I am aware of) It will be quite ironic if after all these years and inprovments in engine designs that the engine that beats Daves time is most likely to be a Crossflow.

I think your right there hasn't been a na fwd ford to run a twelve yet and defiantly not a xflow powered one. Mines the quickest fwd xflow about at the min with a 13.23. But my m8 Ben is going well with his vulcon xflow his managed a 13.4.

I know this is an old thread but crossflows fading away....never!! I loved my old crossflow, it wasnt the fastest but it was very reliable and sounded pukka! cant wait to see the pushrod'd cars running up pod this year

Also ron harris is building a 2 litre steel pushrod for jon harris's latest anglia project so that should be interesting to say the least!!
