osf motivation..

the fact that its different to most of the plastic crap that litters the streets of today.

laying on a cold concrete floor fingers numb, or painstakingly cleaning something off, at the end of the day you will be an individual, and then when you're with likeminded people who will understand how much you put into your car, either a show winner, balls out racer or just on the road with a blue oval.

I love taking mine out, look good in the mk1 or go fast in the mk2

To find motivation ..find an event you want to take the car to . For example a show or a race meet and work your little magic on getting it ready with the knowledge you have a deadline to adhere to

We can always be complacent thinking i will go into the garage and do .....but without a deadline its easy to let another reason come into place and put it off until another day ....and so on :D:D

simple really, what drives you all on? ie out into the garage/drive to do something decent to your motor? have my escort off the road 3years this july coming (im ashamed to admit) I need a kick up the arse!!

Not sure, it comes and goes with me. 4 years and counting with mine though. Nearly there. Will get it sorted this year :-D

i enjoy doing the work myself i find if u r going to own a old ford its better that way i always make a list off what parts i need then when i got them all i go and work on it,a friend of mine spends more time in the garage playing around and 3years later still got his car in bits make yourself a list of what u need and what jobs u going to do and it soon happens i spent 3days in my garage once i drove 1100 mk2 escort in and drove a rs2000 lookalike out with it all done then went to bed lol.its a shame so many give up the other thing is dont take on more than u can do.body work is what i hate doing and if u r new to it do one side at a time.get someone to give u a good kick up the back side ha ha,ebay is full of osf not done and looking a mess dont make yours one off them, your hate yourself if u let that happen.

I think the dealine comment is what gets me going, every year i've wanted to drive something to Classic Ford so i normally blitz my car just before that (about to start for this years)also it helps if you come on forums like this and see pics of like minded people doing / struggling with the same things you are at home on yours or looking through the "finished" section knowing yours could be in there soon !!!

Its a shame you cant buy it in a bottle, :D . I took my mk1 escort off the road in 1998 to fit new wings , front panel and sort the back brakes out , atm its sat in the garage as a bare shell, wings are on new floors, sills etc , just rear panel to do then prep for paint. I think the deadline idea is good to motivate but have to be honest with ya self in how long its going to take.

For me its not a case of needing motivation but trying to find the money to finish her. I wasn't planning on having her off the road for so long but things come up-like storage issues, new parts needed etc. I think that if I hadn't of had my Orion, then I would've gone mad. I know its not an osf, but its still nice to drive a retro ford around. I'm going to miss him when he goes :(

I find that the meets and shows make me more determined to get things finished.

Same, comes and goes. Something simple can make it go like running out of welding gas and not bothering to get anymore. I can't get on until I buy some. Maybe I'll call the supplier tomoz, lol

Avoid taking on too many 'projects' . I am terrible for this.

I have 3 x motor bikes, 2x cortinas and a usual coming and going of road cars.

And all of my toys are built and modified by me only !

puddy

Snap!! I'm exactly the same. I have learnt now to just do one at a time or none of them will get done. Trouble is that 'one' isn't getting along very fast
