Hi all,

I am thinking of arranging another meet this time at the new Route 303 Diner (owned by the same people who run Route 38), it is located between Honiton & Ilminster on the A303 a couple of miles from the Devon/Somerset border (about 28 miles east of Exeter)

I still have not finalised the date but am looking for some feedback as to weather to run it on an evening or on a Saturday/ Sunday.

If anyone is interested please let me know

From my point of view a Sunday morning would suit me best, work commitments etc, would deffo attend though (other shows permitting) if I ever get my car back from having it's engine changed!

Right,

From the replies I have already have I think a Sunday morning meet will be the best way forward. however I would like to see if any body else might be interested in coming along. I am probably looking to arranging this for the late May early June.

If there isnt any more interest then it is probaly not worth while going ahead with

Regards,

Shaun

That's always the way when it starts mate, it takes a little perseverance and some publicity from one of the mags to get it off the ground. Pick a date and ask CF if they can put a little note about it in a forthcoming mag. I can also send out forum wide emails to publicise it.

After arranging several successful meets myself at KMJ in Exeter (2 of which were featured in magazines) and seeing how that dropped off. and seeing how Route38 organised by Mrs Leadfoot went the same way, there just seems to be a total apathy in this area to these events, I have tried to change venues and even arrange a run which only 2 cars turned up for!!. I think it is time for someone else to have a go.

I put this up as a suggestion to gain interest but seeing as only a few people showed any interest whatsoever this somewhat proves the point.

JamesG seems quite keen I will happily give him any support if he wants to arrange something???

Has anyone ever thought about something nearer Plymouth, to cover people from Devon and Cornwall? There does seem to be a lot of shows and events down this way over July and August, so maybe a "end of season" meet could get a few more, and plenty of time to let others know

That was route 38 that we used to run Andy but it wasn't well supported.

Just thinking of something over the Devon side, I've found people often have this misconception that the tamar bridge is about 20 miles long and takes forever to cross  it's a shame that it's so hard to get support down here, I know there's so many old fords in use around cornwall  is there a promo flier already done we can use at any of the local shows to boost the forum awareness?

I think it's because it's such a large area we're trying to cover and the owners are quite spread out. Devon and Cornwall are two very large counties and a meet in Exeter, such as the ones I organised in 2007, is several hours drive away for some of the guys from Cornwall.

Totally understand the above thoughts...The Route 38 meet i organised for a couple of years but although we had fantastic turnout when Classic Ford mag came along to do features it was not the case inbetween.:roll:

As for Duchy Boy saying he would come along...i find that surprising as he hardly attended Route 38 :?

But I was very grateful to all those that attended regularly as it was a nice "social event" with like minded people.

Its a deep shame that there seems to be such a divide between Cornwall and Devon, hence why we used to drive for over an hour to get to my meet so that it was accessible to all either side of the Tamar Bridge.

Hi, just seen this.

I would be very interested in a meet at the 303 cafe, particularly if it was a regular monthly meet.I could probably drag a few others along. I know what its like trying to arrange a monthly meet.I arrange a monthly meet in Ilminster in connection to Retro Rides website, and is a struggle to get people along.Needless to say, if this OSF meet became a regular thing at the 303 venue, I'd give full support if it helps. :D
