Well I'd like to congratulate the US archery team on the first US medal of the Olympics (Silver medal)

After all, it's about time the US won something without having to soften up the opposition with B2's and B52's first!!

Did they kill all the other contestants in "friendly fire" then.

Well, I doubt I'll be watching any of the games.

As regards the opening ceremony, I may be in the minority but I don't much care, I was completely blown away by it. A fantastic stage show and I enjoyed every minute of it. The evolution of Britain through the industrial revolution and 20th century, the music, the literary achievements of some of our most famous writers, from Elgar to The Prodigy in 90 entertaining minutes!

I agree scott  but as said above somewhere will the rest of the world get it ? :? i thought it was the best bit so far + must have sounded great in the stadium.

Its a shame danny boyle cant produce the GB team a gold medal though !

Right , although I'm still unhappy that a copious amount of money can be spent on such an event. I'm amazed on how I have followed some of the events and feel elated that we are doing so well amongst the rest of the world. Well done to Team GB !!

Congratulations to all GB competitors in the olympics.

So now the billions which would have been better used elsewhere has gone we come to the grand closing featuring iconic buildings etc of london proberly built out of paper mashy , but charged the country for stainless steel !!.

Also is a trip through GREAT british music. The SPICE GIRLS.

Now i'm not a lover of many of the acts that are on but can tolerate them, but The spice girls must be (along with boy bands, haircut one hudred and kajagoogooooooooooooo ) the worst there's ever been.

What's left of the WHO are on ,Madness,Blur ,great ! .

Weller and stone roses probably wouldn't do it (anti estableshment) , Noel Gallagher was asked but wouldn't because apparently all bands/singers have got to mime .

Tell you what i want what i really really want.........is to go in my garage and talk to my escort ,it's more entertaining !!!.

Rant over , down off my soapbox.

So who do you all think should be on to celebrate Great British music ?

Well, I'd rather have the spice girls than that pretentious fuckwit Gallagher, at least they're nice to look at!

Well done team GB for a sizeable medal hall for a relatively small country. Ordinarily I'm no fan of the US but I'm also pleased to see the land of the free beating the "land of the child athletes stolen by the state from their family homes at an early age" in the medal stakes

A Pretentious f***wit the godlike genius award winner noel gallagher maybe but from oasis to his solo stuff he's written some cracking songs, lyrics, music, chords, and the spices have wrote er ? and played instruments like the er ?.

As for looks their even getting a bit long in the tooth there as well. But then music is about music surely.

Agree with rest of your comment on young athletes though.

Well I never thought I'd say it,( but keep it quiet) I actually watched and enjoyed a lot of the events. It made me proud of our achievements, and I believe it has given the country a lift.

Yes, maybe a waste of money, but no more so than these f*#kless footballers get every week for acting like spoilt kids.

I have to agree with you it has been a good fortnight of sport and london has shown the world how to put on an Olympics games. what everyone is forgetting that it was good old Tony and Gordon" who agreed the budgets to put on the games 7 years ago with there goverment credit card i am sure if we could all see 7 years into the future we may of done things differently :ykt:

Well, I didn't catch the closing ceremony as I was on holiday in Spain at the time.

I did have the misfortune to stumble across that Liam Gallagher twit groaning through Wonderwall on youtube though (did he have a turd in his pants or something??) at least Paul McCartney has the excuse of being old for his performance. If three good songs (Champagne Supernova, Wonderwall and Roll with it) makes you godlike these days then even the Romans and Ancient Greeks were much mistaken in the numbers of figures they worshipped as Gods.

If the Spice girls are long in the tooth, I must be positively ancient as they still look hot enough to me

One thing I will say is that in my opinion, The whole Olympic tournament has put GB very much on the world stage. Everywhere I looked in Spain there were Union Flags on display or being worn. It used to be that every time I went abroad the only places you'd see the Union Flag being worn or used was on Sun loungers or shorts used / worn by drunken youths in the likes of Aya Napa, but this time they were everywhere and predominantly being worn by non British people.

I still think the Opening ceremony was a masterpiece and as I've finally found the full thing on youtube, I might just sit through the first section up to the athletes parade again
