Mr Sam Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 well ages ago i vowed to buy a welder so come mot time i could save a few quid and do any welding myself. well that never really happened i got quoted £80 bya garage fortunatly my mate dave said he could probably do it for 50-60 without even looking at it anyway popped round his and his dad had a look £45 so im at ease a little with the mot now and my reasons for not being on here... about a week ago there was a thread with some amazing Chernobly pics then cmpod83 posted a link to another forum with a load of undergroud pics of the MG-Rover Longbridge plant.....basically people creeping into dis-used buildings and so forth and bringing back some amazing pictures, so that was me hooked i seem to be on there constantly (i dont even seem to be talking about cars at college) anyway it turns out dave is actually really into this aswell, i did a couple of sites last week then met up with him at the weekend todo a more serious explore. me and the dog and some grafitti on the site of an old coal mine this was also the old coal mine originally these were sidings for the mine but the nuclear flask test was carried out here (you know the one, train ploughs into a lump of concrete at 100mph) and more recently the virgin voyager trains were tested on these rails. this is a Royal Observer Corp's post, cold war bunker (im yet to get inside) the red flag isnt actually flying so thats what ive been upto and god damn it pottering along at 40mph max looking for these sites the fez seems to run on fresh air http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/index.php theres no end of stuff on there, if your intrseted you'll soon be addicted
orionmojo Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 very cool m8. this pic is highcroft hospital, and i did some work there a while ago (landscape gardening) that is a very recent pic, i went there when they had just started the renovation, staircases that went to nowhere, bars still on the windows in some rooms, and the basement tunnels very scary stuff!! amazing architecture though, and i went right up into the bell tower. so intersting it keeps egging you on

If you do a search on that site for "Burlington" or "corsham" It apparently is a massive decommisioned nuclear bunker. Thing that gets me wondering though is, if thats the sort of place we are allowed to know about, then what sort of places are hidden away we arnt??? Reading around leads to all sorts of other 'urban myths' too. Such as a stockpile of steam trains hidden in hills for use post-nuclear attack. (In case people still want to commute to work I assume )

Twinkle Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 have re3gistered on 28 days now a few members in my area too shed loads round here decon units, dover tunnels, ramsgate tunnels etc and apparantly manston airport has hangers underneath that were dug out by the yanks! one of the fitters at work remembers seeing and hearing chinooks or similar flying over out to see to dump the spoil during the nights when he was younger
