lmfao ,So you think a Sieera RS 500 has no place here then ?

There needs to be changes to keep up to date ,Its nothing to do with Retards Club

Theres simply hundreds more forums ,All offering more,And probably less people like the above 2 members on them ...No disrespect but get real lads check out how busy Turbosport is? etc etc

the answers in the title. OLD skool ford yes Sierras are getting on along with the later fwd escorts prehaps its a room for the later fords as i would imagine some members have osf's and later fords and couple waffle about both in house?

200 od views probably by the same people re entering the thread to read replies

I am a member on over 30 forums and browse loads of others daily .TS is busy ,Buysell is good aswell ,Retro rides is very busy (all sorts of cars) I circle quite a few every day .Theres less activity here due to less projects/cash IMHO .Its a good forum still ,IMO its also down to the summer ,People are away etc

How the fook can a sierra be Oldskool? Old, retro, classic, collectible maybe even old school. But if anyone thinks they're coming on here to see cossies and xr3's then they've missed the point.

As for Retards Club it looks like just a place to post pictures and sell stuff mostly. No threat to the forum from what I can see.

Like many people I haven't been on here much, and like many others I'd imagine it's got lots to do with being generally pissed off about not being able to afford to do anything to mt car so not really having the level of interest in the whole thing ie. The car, the shows, OSFBDC and meets etc.

Tbh, its not only the old skool forums that have lost their appeal ,

I have noticed it at meets/shows that I have gone to .

As said,it is something to do with the price of our hobby, but its also

a lot to do with the divides that have come up since the site started.

People fall out and rather than everyone getting together, it has become very

divided , no ones fault really, just a shame it ain't what it used to be.

puddy

i Dont think Sierras will ever be classed as what we define as OSF's

theres no doubting that some, ie RS500s, 3 door cossies etc are great cars with a cult following, but they aint Old Skool and never will be

there is an arguement to let Mk3 escorts in, ive seen some lovely examples, only problem being is the most recognisable Mk3 is the S1 RST which is the definition of plastic fantastic.... then again so is the tickford Capri but there allowed.

A room for members other cars would be nice, even if its not strictly only fords, i know some members on here have some lovely cars that dont possess the blue oval, Vista for example has a Alfa Monteral (think thats what is called apologies if im wrong ), every member on here is a petrol head, and we all obviously favour old fords, but im sure we all appreciate other marques too, i certainly do especially other classics and some modded modern stuff.

As for other forums, yes i use several, including TS, DW, PP, and occasionally Retro Rides, but only for one room, "readers other modifications" which i find a good read (for those who dont know it, its random things and projects people have on the go, ie not cars). not a fan of some of the cars on there, it seems the shitter and uglier the better for some reason IMO

mk3 escorts are as gash as a sierra ? same period ?

i dont get that ...

i never said either were gash, thats a matter of personal opinion, in my Opinion most sierras are crap, but the cossie varients etc are nice, even diehard sierra cosworth fans are likely to agree with me on that. Mk3 escorts i like nearly all that havnt been "max powered" over the years.

A rule of thumb as to what defines a OSF on this site is "did it come with plastic bumpers" and sierras most certainly do all come with plastic bumpers, where as a Mk3 escort are metal with plastic end caps, bit like a capri. This, and other reasons (date of manufacture etc) is why there has been much debate as to why Mk3s are not considered OSFs, Sierras will never even be considerd for the above reasons. Hope that helps

Being 43 i need no education in what an old school ford is .You said theres a good argument for a mk3 escort ! There as plastic as the sierras ,So i think you have your own preferences as to what's old school.

My point is this ,I like neither ,But im sure there owners like ours...So let there be room .Or stagnate ,

Turbosport is a very different forum and although, many years ago, the two sites were compared, Turbosport is a forum for lots of different marques. Old Skool Ford caters for just that, Old Skool Fords. I am on other forums and they too are pretty quiet and some have folded .... we need to get the banter going again, that is what seems to be lacking :?

im not trying to teach you to suck eggs or anything i was just simply refering to what this site deems as an OSF, your personal opinon may include newer fords in the description of an OSF.

secondly im not saying thers a good arguemnt for a Mk3, just stating that there has been numerous threads debating whether it should be included, and me personally i think it should, that opinion may not be widely shared but hey were not all sheep are we

IMHO I dont think that sierras and Mk3 escorts will ever be considered as old fords to this site, thats not the point. a small sub section for the newer marks of ford and possibly other marques that members own would be a good inclusion to the site and could boost traffic/banter etc but again this is all IMO

Just wait till this new fast n furious film comes out which is rumoured to use Mk1 escorts, then the popularity and demand for OSFs will re rocket to levels of that a few years ago, sadly so will the prices... as generall speaking they have become a bit cheaper then say 3 years ago

Agreed, although some people do take banter a bit to seriously and as you know a good few have left the site over the years due to this, 4 door v 2door comes to mind  ... God help them if they ever went down to WPE headquarters its Banter/piss taking central, but an immense laugh

so 3 doors etc aint old skool according to some.fine but why does some peoples opinion stop them being included in this forum? you are just limiting yourself in and ever overcrowded list of splinter forums of each and every model.it will only lead to less and less traffic.i would consider mk4/5 cortinas as not classic fords just boring rep mobiles for the poor  but that's just what i think and i am happy to see them included here.i own a 3 door and a s1 rst along other older fords.why is there a point at which some fords are not classed as osford worthy ? but the cossie engines are ok to pinch and put in your osf's

c'mon the plastics we want our own section with plastic panelled walls :P

the day sierras, mk3 escorts and all that crud get on here the boss will shut the site down and hang himself ;)

This is OLDSKOOLFORD, The criteria was set on day one and that's just the way it is. I hate it when people come to my house and tell me they don't like my curtains!

I've not posted on here for a while, having done a show or event nearly every week since classic ford I eventually ran out of steam :(

My son has just acquired a fezz mk2 project which has diverted me to other sites and forums etc as his wouldn't be eligible as an OSF, (but I'm not a member  ) . I know there are people like him who'd love to be part of it but cannot afford to go oldskool. The prices of even the budget classics are going skyward, and for those that need their car as a daily it's not an option.

I got together with half a dozen others and cruised to a my last show and although we were all in fords over 25 yrs old, ( is that classic) only my 105 and a 100 e fell into the OSF bracket. We all have the same interests, so perhaps more co-promoting between clubs can help boost enthusiasm on here and at shows/runs etc :?:

Or maybe everyone's pi##ed off with the crap summer they just have no enthusiasm for anything at the mo :banghead:

I personally don't see why we should alter our forum/club to suit other peoples ideas. There are a million and one other groups that cater for virtually every car ever made. This is a great community that caters for a particular genre, that's why I'm here.

Jo, you better watch your lip mrs

Scott. Just no

Dave, rude but concise lol
