herb capri Posted September 29, 2012 Report Posted September 29, 2012 i have been looking about at prices and i can say these price drops seem to be all classic cars. Is it because of time of year? euro regulation changes? just really noticed it on mk1 escort prices,as they seem to have been hit hard ,any one else noticed? mike
brettp Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 ive noticed a price drop except for cossies and rs turbos they seem to be going up
lotusless Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 It's the end of the world for modified cars... I have been saying it for ages.. STANDARD CARS ARE THE FUTURE
Savvi Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 You missed a dirt cheap Mk1 Capri down your way mike !!!! Was listed on TS for £1650 Taxed & tested 1600 with a core plug gone.
SteveL Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 No prices in my opinion are reddiculously high ,Especially for escorts ! mk1 £1500 for a rotten shell ? mk2 rs2000 £2500 for same If you think there cheap please share your finds

The OP said "Are prices dropping?" not are they cheap / expensive
Savvi Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 They are dropping because people have no spare cash, most are just "toys" now and wont pay the morguage or feed the kids ......... not many people have the spare cash to buy them so prices have dropped as owners are getting more desperate for money for day to day living. As also suggested im sure this new law is making a differance on the modded stuff pricewise as people wont wany to spend loads on something they cant use.

Not much demand anymore as many do not have the spare income they had this time 1-3 years ago, as such your target for selling a car has reduced. Only the best cars at 'good prices' will sell. Saying that we are taking about people here, a variable you can never be totally sure of. That's the going trend anyway. Maybe it will perk up again in a years time when there are more jobs about/people get bored and take out another loan for a toy. It's such an interesting topic with so many different reasons for why prices in mk1's change.
The Transplanter Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 I think the shit is going up in money and the decent ones (harder to sell) are coming down. Soon the minters will be the same price as the rotters

They will only stay high as long as people are prepared to pay way over the top (In my opinion). Like anything the bubble has to burst at some point. But they will go sky high again.
willsy Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Up and down in all markets mate. Yes i agree prices are more realistic at the moment imo.
damian1969josh Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Prices are down a bit,but will go back up after the f and f film and the world and his dog will want one lol p.s mind is staying right were it is so don't care, to many days fixing it lol
herb capri Posted October 1, 2012 Author Report Posted October 1, 2012 well i reckon saavi has hit it on the head what with tight wallets, job insecurities, worries of buying a car that may well be unusable if E U gets its way, [god forbid !!]or may cost you a fortune to revert to original!! and i think a bad summer with reduced shows may also have dropped our cars profiles a bit,i mean if you cant see them who [average joe] will want to shell out his hard earned wages on a tasty classic? maybe it is a time to reap and buy buy buy! i know i cant as my garage is full,,, and im skint,,,,,,,,,, and the baby is due in febuary,,,,,,,,,, ah well, mike
puddy Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 Just been nosing around on fleabay, mk2 rs2000 with no wings needs complete resto ,5k 105e rotten shell , with v5 , £895.00 Loads of over priced unfinished projects, I'd rather pay out on a good one for not a lot more money , have you seen the price of decent panels, trim ,paintwork, etc, these people are dreaming imho. puddy
Russian Bear Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 I agree prices have gone down on a lot of things but funnily enough not where I want to put my money. Trying to find a Ford Anglia 105e for the right money that doesnt need too much work is proving to be slightly beyond my optimistic £2000 budget. Id better shut up and keep on saving...
GJUK Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 We'd all have more money to spend if it was not for the bloody high insurance prices we have to pay! I'm paying for House insurance, four lots of Car insurance, business insurance, Shotgun/Rifle insurance and DWA insurance. It's where all my money goes

herb capri Posted October 2, 2012 Author Report Posted October 2, 2012 ahh! the edge , just glad i got all my stuff re insured in febuary but dreading next feb ! on subject of price i agree there are still people askin the earth for the cars, but have a look at the bids, if there is no reserve, there is often no bidding. if there is a reserve bidders play "nearest to the bull" daring to get near to the reserve, but not buying the overpriced ford OR they bid the item up for their mates hense stopping just short of the unrealistically priced car, either way look at the cars that sell and see if they complete ,feedback etc, often its a set up and the real prices are the ones that complete. and THAT price HAS crashed, [im doing too much time on ebay]

BoDuke Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 Because I live in a cave, I was not aware of any Euro regulation changes regarding modified cars. Can anyone post a link or summarise the changes please? Thanks.
