.... Getting old!

 

I used to miss the 1980's, well... I still do, but now, I am missing the early 90's as well. I have just been re-loading my poota after I decided to give it a freshen up. I have been up all night putting my programs back on and came across some old music video's.

 

In amongst them was The Prodigy's Everybody's In The Place & Outta Space, Urban Hype's A Trip To Trumpton, MC Hammer's U Can't Touch This. I have just been reminising about the clothes we used to wear, the bangin' rave anthems at the time etc.

 

I was never one for illegal raves or drugs back in the day, but I love music (always been a massive part of my life), and even though I had just started secondary school (1990) you would think, "hang on, you were only 11". You would be correct, but I think I was the only one in my school not to be on drugs or go to illegal raves.

 

It is true what they say / said, it doesn't matter what colour you are, where you come from, if you take drugs or not, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC!

 

Shame we can't go back eh??????? I will just have to settle for spinning my classic vinyl to send me back!

i was 4 in 1990. i remember my first day of school, and i was dropped there in a volvo 740. a silver one.

I was five then, but I loved my brother & sister's music, going for drives in my brothers newly finished Daytona Yellow 1300GT Mk1 Escy listening to Guns N Roses, Metallica, Alice Cooper, Def Leppard, Ugly Kid Joe, Lenny Kravitz and Alice in Chains while going to see Anglias, Mustangs and Falcons blasting around on the track.

 

My dad's lovely V6 Taunus turned into an inferno with me & mum in it two years prior and they had a brief spell with a MK3 2 door estate in silver fox before turning to a long line of Carlton estates, My mum bought our current Series Land Rover and we started serious off roading, my parents 1960 BMW Isetta 3 wheeler was prepped for its respray in Cherry Red and is still waiting to be finished and me & my brother were allowed to 'rally' a Mk1 Mini van round my nan's smallholding.

 

Always been GnR's no1 fan since, I even bought Ugly Kid Joe's album & Def Leppard's Hysteria a while back (used to love the video when I was little) though my gf doesn't share my enthusiasm (or anyone else for that - she hides, giving me reason to wind down the windows and pass chav's with it on full blast - proper cheese ), and Guns N Roses don't cry video, always wanted a 66 Hertz Shelby Mustang since, though it gets driven off a cliff.

 

By '92 my brother had given my sister the Mk1 and bought a 1600 Ghia Sapphire and they went to see Guns N Roses play at Milton Keynes, my mum had to drag me indoors cos I stood in front of the car as I wanted to go so much, but then there was a guy killed in the crushing crowd so prob better I didnt. Saw them twice last year though to make up, though had to make do without Slash, still as great to watch though with the new band.

 

But I was seven and had my first real (tiny) leather jacket that year,which I stuck my dad's BSA, Brands Hatch & 59 Club pin badges on from the 60's, plus my DM's & a pair of real cowboy boots I lived & died in. I was one of the last kids at school to get a computer, an old Omega 500 while everyone else was getting SEGAs with the cartridge games as all I cared about was watching the historic racing & blatting about in my brother's Mk1.

Early nineties is the era I still live in! Most of my music collection is old skool dance/trance and obviously Happy hardcore

 

I was only 8 in 1990 but by the time I was 11 I had met some of my big sisters mates - got me into hardcore and techno at a million beats per second

I met Simon in 1996 and he had also grown up in the techno/acid era.

 

Now I like to reminiss about the good old days and like anything with a a piano playing in it - my latest buy Hardcore V's Raindance

 

I spent a whole day trying to find SL2 - on a ragga tip - this is what I always play when I'm sad, or sweet harmony but in my headunit at the minute is ratpack's rendition of Brother Sister -

Is gotta be said that I love me old dance tunes, I recently bought Shamens boss drum album

I also bought another 2 un-limited album recently aswell

 

but what I tend to do is watch the MTV dance channel in the evening, I think its called back in the day or somthing, I right all the tunes down that I like then down load them.

 

I love me guns though and our first dance at the wedding was to dont cry

I was 19, and ive still got all the cds from that era There was a kind of compilation going around called, wait for it , DEEPHEAT...not the spray on gear. They all had different names like DEEPHEAT, FEEL THE POWER.....still play them..Can remember cruising in my mk3 xr3i to that kind of thing. Think i may even have vanilla ices album I`ll get ma coat....
