Savvi Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 Got told of a mk1 estate over the weekend, contacted the guy and went and had a look today. He's owned it for 20 years restored it when he 1st bought it from the original family who purchased it new. Needs a paint job, not been mot'd for a few years but basically solid and should Mot with very little work.
lotusless Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 That is nice, are you buying it then?
Skimmer Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 Im sure i brought a van from a neighbour of that estate 3 or 4 years ago , it was late so i never knocked the door .......you know the score .........I dont want to say were it is as it seems to live on the drive
Savvi Posted December 17, 2012 Author Report Posted December 17, 2012 Yeah I bought it, he's been talking about selling for a long time on & off, known his sister in law for years. It needs work as they all do and I'm sure ill find more then I saw today, hoping ive caught it in time cos you can see its not been loved for a while, but that's 1/2 the fun of it !!!
shaun1.6ghia Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 That looks a great car savvi, good buy mate

Savvi Posted December 17, 2012 Author Report Posted December 17, 2012 Some pics of what I need to sort Front floor needs doing
MK2Ed Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 Yep, I think you'll find a fair more than that - good luck with the project
marky4 Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 nice one m8 will look great once you have sorted it nice colour to
Savvi Posted January 1, 2013 Author Report Posted January 1, 2013 I went with my lad got it running & collected it last weekend, got it home and on the ramp, it's not bad at all........ found exhaust rubbers perished, 2 bits of welding needed where the screen has been leaking, a couple of brake pipes, brake pedal was solid but freed off ok, 2 of the brakes are sticking, few other minor bits but on the whole really good considering it was left out on the drive. Got some bits coming for the brakes and hoping to get the welder out this week so if all goes well should be drivable fairly soon. My very excited 10 year old took some pics
Admin Vista Posted January 2, 2013 Admin Report Posted January 2, 2013 You just can't help yourself can you Mind you with that big "shed" you've got, something has to go in it eh?
Savvi Posted January 2, 2013 Author Report Posted January 2, 2013 Your exactly right ................ I dont even want or need it, but i couldnt leave it sitting there in the rain and as said he's been going to sell it a few times but then changed his mind and each time it was looking worse condition. To be fair i sold my blue van to fund the workshop build so i'm back to the same number as i has before and this was cheaper then the van got sold for. I dont regret it, was a good buy and im sure i'll find something to do with it
jayremedy Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 I like , love the colour and 8 spoke wellers they take me back.
Savvi Posted January 15, 2013 Author Report Posted January 15, 2013 Nearly there now, been busy on it as work is quiet at this time of year ........... New wheel cylinders New handbrake equilizer (bought from stage 1 motorsports, has transformed the handbrake) New flasher unit All light bulb contacts clean and refitted as had intermitant faults Dash bulbs replace Battery change New exhaust rubbers Couple of brake pipes cleaned up hoping they will be ok for now for the Mot Dizzy cap points & condensor change and got engine running better Solenoid swapped for a spare as the terminal snapped All silly little jobs that has probably only took a day if all done togeather, so i now need to have the carpets out and weld up the corner of the floor pans where the screen has leaked and hopefully i can get the Mot done. Not touched the paintwork yet but will be on that next and need to order a screen rubber to keep it water tight.
Savvi Posted January 28, 2013 Author Report Posted January 28, 2013 Took it for Mot today, all sorted and ill tax it for beginning of Feb, even tho its free, then I'm thinking of selling the plate to recoup some of the money I've spent on it as it was valued at £800
Nick Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 good news colin can i ask, how much did you give for it?
Savvi Posted January 29, 2013 Author Report Posted January 29, 2013 You can ask ....... But I wouldn't tell you It wasn't cheap cheap and I have done quite a bit to get it mot'd but hopefully it will sell later on and I've enjoyed doing it while I had no other work on.
