Yep, now its been mentioned this poll is completely unfair, divide and conquer with 3 answers. Clever really

even if I count all the votes for change in one, it's still shows that the current majority vote is in favour of staying as is.

the numbers say it all its not unfair or cleaver if admin didnt want any change why go to the bother of asking what people think it would simply be alot easier an less agro to just say no to new skool stuff

The only clever thing is the they asked and gave everyone a chance to vote, Stick to the topic ....when do you stop putting choices ??? Do you do it by paint colour ?! Tyres fitted ?? I'm sure the admin group had a long hard talk about the poll questions.

Letting more modern cars in is the true divide and conquer tactic ...I'm with the stay as is group. The majority vote because it's working well,

Leave as is. For me "Old School" will always be the rear wheel drive cars. There was a seed change at Ford when they went front wheel drive . Anything that had the original configuration are "Old School" to me, irrespective of manufacturing date.

so exactly what models and marks does oldskoolford cater for?

The general rule of thumb is that the model must have been in production prior to 1980. Note that this refers to the model not a specific vehicle. Hence an 86 Capri qualifies but an 84 mk2 Fiesta does not.

The most recent models that currently qualify are the mk3 Capri, Mk1 Fiesta, mk2 Escort, Mk2 Granada and mk5 Cortina.

Today gone and bought myself a true oldskool ride. You'll be glad to know I've gone RWD as I'm sure most of you will agree, anything that has the original configuration is "Old School".

Hope you like :D

Had to get rid of the Fiesta, it just wasn't cutting the mustard, try as I did it just wouldn't steer from the rear :(

Not wanting to upset anyone but noting stops all the so called newer cars coming to meets ie wingspan and we do get them all the time, jason and his mad cos ,eric and his focus rs etc etc .when boxhill is on we see mk 3 escorts focus and cossies etc turn up. As for some people saying young people cannot afford old skool cars well my 16 year old has a mk 1 fez as his 1 st little car and is talking about then getting a 105e . Look at the list of cars that are old skool lots and lots, there is lots of forums for all these cars ,this one is for OLD SKOOL FORDs.this is only my veiw on this

I Think this will always be a rwd escort site in that i am including mk2 anglia capri etc if i am honest i have nothing against that at all you know what your coming on here for when you come on here, i love all old 80's fords, i would like to see a few xr3i's they were my era i grew up with them but i dont think the site should change if its going to change begrudgingly and i dont think if i am honest newer cars will be overly welcome by some of its members which could cause conflict so if this is the case then i think it should stay as it is

Personally I think if the site is to evolve and continue to thrive long term then 80s fords should be allowed into the fold so to speak, this is just an idea but maybe as a trial run start up a separate 80s section and use that to gauge general interest and if it is popular then look to expand it from there.

My pennys worth is very simple. I started my driving career in the 1980s (1600E Cortina so I was already set in the 1960s) and feel that the the Fords of that era are still a bit modern (I mean if you want FWD there is a fine selection from BL  ).

But there are "classics" as well which deserve credit and many forums do them proud. I know in years to come the jelly mould 1.6 L will be seen as an unusual car but so will the Montego 1.6 L (albeit the Sierra does have a gearbox worth having) and I rest my case  .

I do like the idea of having a 1980s section as long as the old farts like me can point out how wonderful they weren't back in the day.

Keep it the way it is and just add a twist of 1980s excess, hey we can get the pastel colours and mullets out

I think we need to accommodate for these accessible older fords. There is a  distinction between 50s 60s 70s and now 80s fords. We all share the same passion but the world moves on a generation, soon it will be 90s fords that people can only access or relate too. Mk4 escorts have reached 32 years old already, mondeos are 23 years old. The world never stops.

I have no objection to their owners starting a web forum to cater for them. :)

I don't try to insist to my friends with pre-war sports cars that I should take my car to their events, and likewise I don't have any sympathy for Mondeo owners wanting to join OSF.

i can understand what danish said, i had a funny feeling myself entering a forum with a Fiesta Mk2 in the beginning. But where draw the line

opinions differ. \

You probably lose the soul or spirit of an original 70-80íes car Forum, as it will blend to much into mixed classic, semi classic, youngtimer whatever car forum.
