Posse Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 Why is it that petrol caps on cars are always on the drivers side ??? And why don’t garages cater for this There is nothing worse than pulling the hose over the back of your car trying to reach ... discuss lol
Admin Vista Posted April 28, 2013 Admin Report Posted April 28, 2013 They're not always on the drivers side..............................................is that the end of the discussion?
Posse Posted April 28, 2013 Author Report Posted April 28, 2013 They're not always on the drivers side..............................................is that the end of the discussion? Well mine is

Escort Mk1 4 Door Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 my mg midget u could undo filler from boot floor turn it and use a screwdriver to check level that was on the back
Savvi Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 Well mine is Is that why your selling it There is a rumour that on the fuel guage which ever side the hose is on the little pic is the side your filler is ?
Escort Mk1 4 Door Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 meant to be true mate had twin filler cars with 2
Barnwest Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 If you look at the fuel gauge indicator on your dash by the fuel gauge, the little icon that looks like a petrol pump will tell you which side your flap is on! The pump draawing will be one way round or the other! 2
LGreen Posted May 1, 2013 Report Posted May 1, 2013 I have heard the same about the petrol light on the dash letting you know which side it is but not checked it out. I thought the reason the fuel flap was on different sides was because its got to be on the opposite side to where the exhaust exits?
SmokeEm Posted May 1, 2013 Report Posted May 1, 2013 Is that why your selling it There is a rumour that on the fuel guage which ever side the hose is on the little pic is the side your filler is ? That is not a rumour 'Graham', that sir is a fact
Admin Mk2Jo Posted May 1, 2013 Admin Report Posted May 1, 2013 If you look at the fuel gauge indicator on your dash by the fuel gauge, the little icon that looks like a petrol pump will tell you which side your flap is on! The pump draawing will be one way round or the other! I did not know that! !!!
johnnyspencer Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 i use the pumps for both sides but i dont reverse in, they always reach around to the other side of the car anyway, at least iv never been to one that doesnt!
dacar Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 The RS dashboard has the fuel pump hose pointing to the left and the filler is on the right! My daily has a small arrow next to petrol telling you what side it's on. Wife's car the same
mk2 mike Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 It's not true for all cars. I've driven about 3 or 4 in the last year that had the filler cap on the opposite side to the little pic on the gauge.
Fiesta Steve Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 Modern fords have an arrow on the fuel gauge telling you which side the filler is on..
