Muzzman Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 I suppose i'd better try and make the car nice and shiny for the Ford Fair, any recommendations for products, can't say i've ever been much of a detailer. I've noticed people seem to have engine bays as clean as the body work, any tips on this.........
Admin Mk2Jo Posted July 3, 2013 Admin Report Posted July 3, 2013 Agreed Auto glym but many recommend Maguires
Muzzman Posted July 3, 2013 Author Report Posted July 3, 2013 I've been told to use wipes on the engine bay, is this the preferred method of cleaning?
Admin Mk2Jo Posted July 3, 2013 Admin Report Posted July 3, 2013 I think a good muslin ( not sure if thats spelled right) cloth or polishing cloth and a good polish is effective.<br />Others will have different opinions.
theloudboy Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 What a muslin cloth jo I've never heard of them?.
GJUK Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 sand paper? Though I have used Maguires engine detailer before. with micro cloff.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted July 3, 2013 Admin Report Posted July 3, 2013 Mark it's a white fibre polishing cloth used by some paint sprayers ... it may be called something else but that's what I know it as ... comes in rolls double layer soft white with holes in it ...
Admin Mk2Jo Posted July 3, 2013 Admin Report Posted July 3, 2013 Sorry ... just googled it and its mutton cloth. 1
XjamesX Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 for a second I though jo had wrote Muslim! ha ha ha 1
Admin Mk2Jo Posted July 3, 2013 Admin Report Posted July 3, 2013 Pmsl ... that may work but it looks a bit scratchy lol
Admin Vista Posted July 3, 2013 Admin Report Posted July 3, 2013 What I tend to think when I see a lifted bonnet that is immaculately clean and polished underneath it is "Nice, but here's someone who spends too much time cleaning his car and not enough driving it" Give it a wipe over sure but unless you're entering a "look I'm so anal I've even cleaned inside my exhaust" competition, then don't worry about it too much
texr2000 Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 i wipe over engine bay with them industrial baby wipe things designed to clean your hands. makes like easy
Kevin Mk2 Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 If your engine leaks enough oil it becomes self cleaning after a while.
Fiesta Steve Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Mark it's a white fibre polishing cloth used by some paint sprayers ... it may be called something else but that's what I know it as ... comes in rolls double layer soft white with holes in it ... It looks like this; 1
