Admin Mk2Jo Posted October 26, 2013 Admin Report Posted October 26, 2013 ... for the storm that's heading our way? Could it be another 1987 for those of us who remember it? Forecasters are predicting 80mph winds for us in the South!
Admin Vista Posted October 26, 2013 Admin Report Posted October 26, 2013 I remember 1987 very well. I was in Gosport at the time, trees down everywhere!

1
Fiesta Steve Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 I remember getting the day off (primary) school !! 1
JP. Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Nothing to worry about overhere. They expecting 3-4mph winds and some rain.
SmokeEm Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 I remember it well. Tree in our garden came down smashing my bedroom window during the night and pinned me to the bed! Luckily I got away with just a few cuts n bruises when my parents were trying to lift the branches to give me enough room to get out of bed.
Mrs O/H/C Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Remember having to try and get into work on my motorbike .. Interesting journey to say the least.
Admin Vista Posted October 26, 2013 Admin Report Posted October 26, 2013 Remember having to try and get into work on my motorbike .. Interesting journey to say the least. We were told we had the day off work.....................Big cheer went up from lots of smiling faces, then a few seconds later the news was broken that the "day off work" was to be spent helping clear the roads, cutting up trees (with hand saws!) and helping clear all the debris. Our smiles disappeared pretty quickly!
alltheoldohyeah Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Mmm have a feeling Monday will be a busy day
deltamal Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Last run of the year for the Cortina tomorrow, Westpoint kit car show in Exeter, the journey home could be interesting!

FredTransit Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 the only Mk2 transit we bought brand new in 86 still bares the crimp in the bonnet she got from a branch falling on her in the 87 storm!

frankthefencer Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 I can't wait !!!!! This is the best news for my company. We look after 40,000 properties in the south east so with this in mind it's happy days!! Kerrrrrrrrching!!!!!! £££££££££
Savvi Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 I was working on the Rac remember watching artics being blown over on the M4.All the contents were scattered over the Carridge way and some helpful Police man took a nice sofa and "hid it" behind some bushes, I went back later and picked it up and took it home, next day I got a call threatening to take it back, I took it to the police station, funny they didn't know anything about it !!!!I would have loved to have seen the coppers face when he rolled up in a borrowed van to retrieve it from his hiding place !!!
Fiesta Steve Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 I was working on the Rac remember watching attics being blown over on the M4.!! What? Like house roofs and stuff ???? Lol 1

Savvi Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Bloody iphone and stupid apps ................ I've edited it now for you
Admin Vista Posted October 28, 2013 Admin Report Posted October 28, 2013 Well, I don't know what all the fuss was about? I went out last night bringing loose items in from the garden and securing anything that was too big or might be blown around. Sure, it was a bit breezy when I went to bed at gone 11 but nothing too excessive, slept all night and didn't hear a thing? Anyone anything more exciting to report?
Savvi Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Yep we did the same, woke up with no electric and the fence blown down, it was howling in the night enough to wake me up but wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. On the plus side its the neighbours fence and I've been trying to get him to replace it for ages.
Admin Vista Posted October 28, 2013 Admin Report Posted October 28, 2013 I lied, My garden is trashed.....................................................oh ok, perhaps the neighbour's bucket blowing over the fence isn't a calamity after all.
deltamal Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 A bit of a damp squid where I live in Plymouth, a few leaves and branches here and there, just a normal windy night! it was a bit wet and windy coming back from the kit car show in Exeter yesterday afternoon, but the Cortina handled it ok with four of us in it!
Admin Vista Posted October 28, 2013 Admin Report Posted October 28, 2013 This is in Plymouth apparently And this house in Hounslow looks to have seen better days, hope no-one was hurt in it
SmokeEm Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Got a tree down outside work but only a blown over recycling bin to report at home.
mk2 mike Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Two fence panels blew over in my girlfriends garden. Big whoop!
