Here's my mk1 1978 fiesta 1100cc. I got given this for my 15th birthday present and I had no mechanical experience...

It all started when I read about Gary's mk2 escort 2 door in orange with a black vinyl roof that got me in to the classic ford scene, I'm now good friends with him after meeting and talking to him at shows. I wanted a escort but with no money, no experience and still at school a fiesta was the only way to go.

The car was saved from being banger raced and I set about restoring & rebuilding it to a original spec that I could use for my first car..

Here's some pictures of when I got it.

Since then I have spent 2 years striping, painting and rebuilding it. Here's some recent photos.

Over the 2 years, I've have changed :

- the whole breaking system (disks, pads, shoes, drums, cylinder, handbrake cable)

- fitted poly bushes all round (tie bars, trailing arms, pan hard rod)

- fitted rally design lowering springs on the rear (including new shocks)

- converted mk1 golf coil overs to fit on the front

- electronic ignition & 12v coil (high output)

- 8mm silicon high performance ht leads & high output spark plugs

- oil & filter changed a few times

- new genuine ford fuel pump

- k&n airfilter

- all new Ghia brown interior with rare series x leather door cards

- Ghia clocks with rev counter

- 4 spokes alloy wheels rwd offset wrapped in 165/55/13s

- resprayed in pepper white (although it's beige)

- two brand new genuine ford chrome bumpers (never fitted before I bought them)

I'm now in the motor trade working full time and I learnt everything I know by rebuilding my little fiesta, which stands me in good sted for my age. Meny more ideas in mind for the fiesta but I shall see what the new year brings :)

Thanks for reading :)
