MK II Mark Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 A combination of watching The Professionals and rallying in the late 70's early 80's which was definately rallyings greatest period
Andy504 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Because of my dad, he was racing anglias, escorts and cortinas in the late 60`s early 70`s, in the hot rods, then driving round in his mk 1 essy estate, with hot rod running gear and engine when we was growin up, plate was mun 113g. Then of course watchin the sweeney an the proffesionals, my first car was a ford essy mk2, so had to get one again eventually, glad i did and done it 10 years too late.
Mr Sam Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 first car a 10 year old renwot 5 for £100 or a 23 year old fiesta for £250 ............i dont trust french cars
louie bagel Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 combination of two at a very young age when all my mates were into action men, football, computer games i wouldn't touch anything without wheels so i was always destined to be a car nut, and second i love history reading about it looking at pictures hearing about it, and i think theres nothing finer than a car restored. "pheonix from the flames" sort of thing
mr squidian Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 brother came home with JRW and i saw it i fell in love said he was going to scrap it! only accepted it so he could get home! and have some sidewasy action with them small wheels he said its going for scrap, my jaw dropped and i gave a mk2 escy 4 door for it .. regret it? not for poo!
Stu_B Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Seein' a mk1 mexico replica with hot x-flow comin sideways out of a junction when I was about 19, then my mate sold me his capri and that was it I was hooked! I've dabbled with a few VW's (mk1 golfs) and mini's but Rwd fords are deffo all I have time for now!!
sab6024 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Bit silly really. I was into old Mercedes when I was a youngster. Then when I was about 15 one of my 'mates' tried to set me up on a blind date hoping it to backfire in my face. Only thing is I got on really well with the lad and he was driving an Angle at the time. His mate had a Mk1 Escort or 2. They used to come and pick me up in them every Wednesday night to help rebuild another Mk1. I always wore mini skirts in those days so I always had to polish the low bits. I was hooked on these cute little cars tho. I've owned OSF's ever since.

MK5 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 i was into high permonance Jap cars at the time. my ex bought a 2 door mk5 Cortina from ebay. he drove her about twice and hated her i was driving a 280BHP Supra at the time, when i asked if i could have a go. he was really reluctant, said i'd hate the lack of power (Corty was a poorly running 1.6 auto) and the handling blah blah blah. anyway he eventually took me and her to an industrial estate... 15 minutes later i was in love (with the car, not him!!) he "gave" me the car and i spent a lot of time and effort heavily modifying her... when we split up he wouldn't let me have her as the V5 was still in his name i'd already bought Nina (car in my sig) by then anyway - she was the car i wanted, a 4 door mk5 in champagne gold... oh and did i mention the S pack suspension... i've started the mods, but will eventually be dropping a 2.8 carbed engine in
deluxe Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 seven years ago my uncle sold me for nearly nothing his mk1 escort estate that he had used since be bougth it new in 1970
Danmex Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 I wanted a cheap RWD drive track car, after looking around I came up with getting an Escort " how expensive can an old Escort be" I think. By the time I realised how sought after they were it was to late and the bug had bitten deep. So here I am
Noodles Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 My bro had some when I was 8, I awalys remember the mods he had like the loud paintjoc and a cb radio which was the rage back then, and second because I need the tigra for work and I got to a point when I could'nt mod it anymore unless I took it of the road, so I got the escort to keep my hands dirty
Deano1351 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 My bro and his mates were all into that sort of thing when i was a whippersnapper, the estate we lived in was full of mk1 and mk2 scorts, capris, granadas, even chevettes i used to help out on my weekends and in the summer holidays, aaaaah those were the days, iv been hooked ever since
