Bit silly really. I was into old Mercedes when I was a youngster. Then when I was about 15 one of my 'mates' tried to set me up on a blind date hoping it to backfire in my face. Only thing is I got on really well with the lad and he was driving an Angle at the time. His mate had a Mk1 Escort or 2. :D They used to come and pick me up in them every Wednesday night to help rebuild another Mk1. I always wore mini skirts in those days so I always had to polish the low bits. I was hooked on these cute little cars tho. I've owned OSF's ever since.

Sorry this was a few years ago and I'm generally found in jeans or my nurses uniform. My legs rarely come out now.

So I looked at RWD English classics.

The MK1 Escort was the first car that came to me 8)

Aged 15 I got a mk2 4dr escort to learn to drive in the fields nearby. Paid £99 with £25 worth of tax left on it... Lasted okay til I broke the box practising clutchless changes

I always preferred the mk1 look, then finally managed to scrape enough cash to get the one I have now about 5 years ago.

Had plenty of tat in between- 2CVs, yugo, chevette, metro etc... Not going back there again- hooked for life now I think!

a long long time ago (1995) I was having a driving lesson when a blue mk1 escort lit up the back end at a cross roads coming towards me and flew off in a haze of tyre smoke. Obviously the instructor wasnt amused but I though it was so cool to see a decent old motor being driven hard, a week after passing my test I had a mk2 1300 two door and the fun began....

When I was young I would occasionally walk past a house with a Sebring Red Mk1 Mexico sat in the driveway, recognised that it was something special & fell in love with it.

Also had the Scalextric set with the black RS1600 & yellow TR7 ( :queer: ) & whenever I played with it I was always the RS1600 :D

A few years back I was working at a place & one of the old bosses showed an interest in the 1300 Ghia that I owned at the time, followed by a standard 2 door 1300L Mk1 & it turned out that he owned the Sebring Mex that first got me interested (small world!!) 8)

My first car was actually a Hilman Avenger, which cost me £325 in 1978....a fortune at the time. But not long after buying it a bloke in the boozer mentioned he was selling his Anglia for £75...I took a look, took a drive and was hooked. I still remember that I just started smiling as soon as I drove it....(and I have the same stupid grin on my face when I drive my current Anglia!) I sold the Avenger to an uncle who wrote it off two weeks later, and bought the Anglia....now on my fourth.

It should be noted that the first Anglia was only 11 years old at the time, so wasn't so much OSF as state of the art Ford!!!! God I feel old!

My Dad had a Mk1 Escy 1300 Sport, I loved it as a kid, he used to use it for Autotests round Huddersfield in the late 70's. I wrote my Nova off when I was 18 and there was a Mk1 1100 for sale locally so I got it, lost count how many I've had since then... 1 add 2 is er.. add 4 um plus another 5 MK2's yeah about 11 so far.

If only I knew then what I know now about 2dr Mk1 and 2 Escorts I'd not have scrapped them..
