As I start to get closer to getting the escort finished I just need some advice on what oils I need and quantity

1) Standard Diff

2) Standard type 9 gear box

3) 2.1 pinto- 160 - 180 bhp will find out when I turn the key

thanks

valvoline vr1 mineral oil for pinto with some of that ZZP (name could be wrong but something like it) additive that Burtons sell, just has a high zinc additive to protect your cam.

I'm pretty sure that VR1 already has a high Zinc content so adding extra is probably just wasting your money. I will double check though.

My engine builder always used Rock oil, couldn't tell you what it was, or what viscosity, but this stuff was like golden syrup. Took ages to fill up after a change coz it was so thick! The upside was it never really left the top end completely, and the cam was always nice and coated, also had fantastic oil pressure.

I've heard a few times to put automatic transmission fluid in a type 9 box ????

I was told that for the gearbox in my old Racing Puma, wasnt sure about it so went with 75/90 i think

well I have just ordered the lot from opie oils. very helpful - he also recommended automatic oil for the gearbox so went with that, vavoline vr1 for the engine and just some standard diff oil as the rear axle is only so I can get the car on the road
