Original Rubber Top Mounts

Is anyone still making original Rubber top mounts for Escorts these days? All I see is the bearing ones of all sorts of funny shapes and sizes. Surely the concourse devotees must source them from somewhere? Making it harder though they have to be small hole ones.

We burn the old rubber out of the original top mounts, set them up in a jig and recast them with a softer mix of polyurethane.

Thanks for your reply, I had heard of this being done a number of years back but it seems to have dried up with a focus on the alloy mounts these days. It sticks in my memory because i remember seeing a photo of the topmount with yellow eurothane which stood out over the black rubber originals. It wasnt done locally here in Australia though I thought it was the UK. It makes total sense rather than throw away the whole mount. Does anyone there in SA offer that service to anyone outside do you think?

Hahaha Makes perfect sense to me as both countries collaborated on their Escort programs originally. The forum going a bit more international can be a good thing given how many of our cars you guys keep pinching when yours turn to flaky red dust! Dont think we havent noticed LOL

I'm sure I can make a plan for you. I'm going to start selling the Mk2 Sport Polyurethane kits on eBay soon. 

Regarding the strut tops.. If you do want to go that route.. Do you have the big or small diameter tops?

And would you want the bare strut top casings sandblasted and powder coated before it gets cast with polyurethane?

Just want to see if I can get two old ones and then get a price on recasting them.

I did the loose suspension arms for a friends  Cortina Mk5, had the arms sandblasted and powdercoated before we fitted the bushes. I'll post a photo of the arms just now.

You can choose between blue, black, yellow and red. Once I have a price on old strut tops and the casting I'll get a price on postage for you.

i think rally design now do the rubber ones again, but i think they are only the large hole ones, you'll need to check, cheers, ian.

Its for a later small hole model. Thats where the problem often lies is that alot of the top mounts are made only for the larger holes. I would even have considered roller bearing mounts if they were of the rubber type but the only mounts on offer are the spherical bearing alloy type which I fear will be too harsh for a road car so have considered just sticking to standard rubber mounts hence my question. Im not in a hurry so no need to rush anything through im happy to wait if you are going tor produce some anyways. I should also speak with the guy that makes all the rubber components for Burtons who lives locally just to see what he has to say about it as well. Traditional Black would always be the go for me.

I'm going out to mark a rally with the supplier tomorrow. I will discuss it with him. I really think it's a good idea as we can't find those type of parts this side.
