Coops V8 Posted March 15, 2007 Author Report Posted March 15, 2007 well time for an update as i have been away for a while, the new ecu is now working a treat, and the car is more responsive, even more so than last season, the engine is under going a few upgrades over the next few weeks, Upgrades as follows Ported and polished Big valve stg2 heads (1.6' inlet valves and 1.4' exhaust valves), competition valve springs (less one coil), shortened and bulleted guides, latest style hooded stem seals. and 28cc chambers. Crower 50233 high lift cam (ultra fast road/track cam) Crane Hi-rev anti pump up lifters before the cam can be fitted the pistons need to be pocketed to allow for the lift of the new cam, we are using a modified valve which has been made into a cutter so we can do the pistons in situ, once this has been done the main rebuild is intended over the easter break
Coops V8 Posted June 8, 2007 Author Report Posted June 8, 2007 Update: the stg2 heads turned out to be stg3 but with standard valve springs which we found out about after doing a dry run instead of after priming the oil system this caused a touch of bind up on the springs. thus bending 2 chrome molly pushrods, Crower cam being fitted: Made a cutter from an old chevy valve to pocket the pistons. Duplex timing gears replaced the standard type steel gears we had fitted. Stg3 heads fitted to block with new molly pushrods, Rocker gear awaiting refit then fitted to engine, with preload set on the lifters also. Manifolds refurbed, along with second wb02 sensor fitted and exhaust gas temp probe, Nearly all back together: And a vid of her running http://media.putfile.com/Second-Fire-up-of-stg3-v8[/img]
Coops V8 Posted August 26, 2007 Author Report Posted August 26, 2007 the ole gal is running faultless now, first outing this year at the classic ford day at the pod rana 13.3 @ 104mph, a bit more tunning is needed needed now and maybe we can hit the magic 12,
dixon Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 very very nice mate i can see hell of alot of worl has gone into it...
Coops V8 Posted March 3, 2010 Author Report Posted March 3, 2010 Thought it was time for a little update, as not posted on here since 2008, last year (2009) the car ended up not attending any drag meets or shows, and many people asked where the hell was the car, Reason neither of us were at any shows was the car was over at caprisport (www.caprisport.com) and was having a major overhaul, the 3.9 was removed and a high comp (11:1 ratio) new 4.6 engine fitted, mapped fuel and ignition now fitted, 1.5kw high torque starter, TVR gearbox, -6 braided fuel lines from the bosch motorsport fuel pump to the filter then to the fuel rail, Caprisport custom built exhaust system with 'X' pipe, coilover front strut conversion with Gaz adjustable inserts and adjustable topmounts, Gaz rear adjustable shocks, custom engine mounts, the list goes on, hope you like the finished article, Old 3.9 Coming Out: New Engine Build: Fuel System Upgrade: Engine Mount Fab: Its Going In: Exhaust System: Struts: Its Finished: Oh and the reason for every thing being OTT fuel system and mount wise etc, Is that i have this baby to go on later this year, at last i have a supercharger to go with the new engine, so end of this year it will be a 4.6 powered capri with forced induction and N20
KJ 1320 Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Very nice mate You can't beat a bit of forced induction!
Coops V8 Posted March 3, 2010 Author Report Posted March 3, 2010 been a while coming, will only run a max of 6-8psi that charger but thats going to be more than enough due to the comp ratio, (around 9.8 with cam overlap), not going to run an intercooler at first so we can see what the intake temps get up to, if they get to high will add one, hoping around the 400+bhp mark when finished end of this year
KJ 1320 Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 I have a vauxhall xe engine in mine with a Procharger running at 10 psi of boost
KJ 1320 Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 you running an intercooler? yes m8 600x300x75 core with 75mm in/out
Coops V8 Posted March 3, 2010 Author Report Posted March 3, 2010 Cheers mate, a few parts i need to source, intercooler, BOV or recirc valve, pulleys to be made, brackets to be made, etc etc.
