johnny_h Posted May 16, 2007 Author Report Posted May 16, 2007 Old Skool Ford London to Brighton Cruise 2007!!!! I've copied and pasted relevant information from this thread to answer a few questions you may have without having to read all 30 pages! The original plan was to cruise down in convoy from London to Madeira drive in Brighton but the parking people and Brighton and Hove Council have been particularly unhelpful but the Marina Events people are very keen to have us there. It is a really "classy" venue and with the backdrop of the yachts and the Classic Fords it should be a good opportunity for some great photos. There is just enough space to squeeze in 100 osf's. It's awesome and has got everything we need for a top day out. A pucker safe car display area, tons of pubs/bars and shops and even a dock if anyone fancies coming along in their yacht, and PUBS! There is also a multi storey car park which is FREE for anyone not on the list that wants to come along. These areas will be full of shiny OSF's on July 1st 2007! Legal All the cars that take part will need to be roadworthy and most importantly have to provide proof of valid insurance before they will be allowed into the Marina. Timings and Route The official start venue will be at the Ace cafe on the north circular in north London. The convoy will be departing from the Ace at 8.00am! All of those that were brave enough (or crazy enough) to leave from the Ace will travel to our next meeting point at Pease Pottage services in the south London outskirts at aboot 9.45am. A quick slash break and then the full convoy of 100 snorting OSF's will depart from Pease Pottage at 10.00am. We are hoping to have everyone parked up in the Marina by 11.00am I think we are talking about starting to vacate the marina at 4.00pm So there you have it. Here's a map orientated from North to South. This is not necessarily the route we are going to take but it will be similar. Not on the list but interested? If you don't get on the list you are still welcome to join the convoy down to the marina. There is a FREE multistory car park we can use. The 100 paying spaces are for the actual marina precinct. Payment As Jo pointed out earlier the £11.00 fee is non refundable however: There is a reserve list. If you have to drop out for some reason the first person on the reserve list will take your place. That person is under no obligation to pay OSF as we already have space reserved but they may feel obliged to send you a cheque for the fee. This is entirely voluntary and up to you and them to arrange. All 100 entrants will receive an OSF key fob and commemorative plaque! Magazine coverage and sponsorship We are very lucky to have the two top Old Skool Ford magazines along for the ride on July 1st. Classic Ford are going to be exclusively covering the event and bringing massive attention to www.oldskoolford.co.uk and your very own osf! Retro Ford who have always been a big supporter of www.oldskoolford.co.uk are very kindly sponsoring the event and supplying all you lucky people with a nice commemorative grill plaque (just like the mini boys) for your garage/kitchen/toilet wall! Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 Im worried about the jam at brighton getting everyone parked especally if the weathers hot Steady on mate... some of us may not get that far It will all be reeeet I tell ya
Noodles Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 Thats wot i mean its hard enough to keep the engine cool
johnny_h Posted May 23, 2007 Author Report Posted May 23, 2007 I was thinking about breakdown procedures. Not sure how to go about it. I have most peoples mobile numbers so that's a start. Maybe we should swap numbers with our "groups" As long as everyone brings the usual spares you would take on long journeys + some cable ties between us we should be able to fix pretty much anything. What are your ideas?
Noodles Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 Yer going in small groups is good just make sure everyone has the important numbers
RUSTYPUP Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 I'll bring a petrol can. That should cover most problems.
BaileyMex Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 I carry some cable ties some 8mm fuel line and a couple of jubilee clips and some crap tools
johnny_h Posted May 23, 2007 Author Report Posted May 23, 2007 I'll bring a petrol can. That should cover most problems. TW*T <<< you can believe it says twit if you like.
RUSTYPUP Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 I'll bring a petrol can. That should cover most problems. TW*T <<< you can believe it says twit if you like. Charming that is. How many times would a can of petrol sorted you out in the last couple of months? We could have another poll. A:less than 5 times B:At least 5 times that I've admitted to and probably more
Admin Mk2Jo Posted May 23, 2007 Admin Report Posted May 23, 2007 Well, we do have a deadline for getting into the Marina of 11.00 at the very latest. After that time NO-ONE except for emergency services will be allowed in or out of there so you have to take that into consideration .... as well as the fact that while 100 OSF's might look good lined up on the hard shoulder it's not very practical. I would say that if you break down, you call Johnny and let him decide what to do
Twinkle Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 will bring my id and arrive fashionably late then jo
johnny_h Posted May 23, 2007 Author Report Posted May 23, 2007 If you can't get hold of me here's Jo's number 0785142353
Admin Mk2Jo Posted May 23, 2007 Admin Report Posted May 23, 2007 Cheeky boys Twink ... you can bring the uniform anyway if you like
Twinkle Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 Cheeky boys Twink ... you can bring the uniform anyway if you like which one?
Admin Mk2Jo Posted May 23, 2007 Admin Report Posted May 23, 2007 Cheeky boys Twink ... you can bring the uniform anyway if you like which one? The coastguard one I think
Twinkle Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 shame i have resigned, well got asked to leave still got the uniform though
martymk1 Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 how are you going to sort out the 'groups' ? both my cars are standard, so i won't be able to keep up with you turbo boys, also can't we find a different route into brighton & miss the busy way in
