I remember them being much harder to use though. The sets of my youth I could never keep the car on track on anything but a straight but both he, I and our 4 year old, find them quite easy to control. Does the stated "magnatraction" make that much of a difference? Next on my list was a mk1 or 2 escort to burn off his Bugatti Veyron with........but was gobsmacked at how much the old cars cost to buy new! Two escorts would work out more than I paid for the whole set!

The Escorts and the two American V8s I've got stick to the track like glue, but I have a pair of Renault Meganes which skip around much like old cars, and a pair of Nissan 350SX (?) which are set up to stick to the track but put the rear end out at any opportunity.
