The Transplanter Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 Im not sure if an X-Pack body kit would apply to this thread, but; My brother saved up & searched out the lowest mileage, mint RS2 he could find, it would have been 2-3 years old at the time and was like brand new But no, he wasnt happy with that so he did this: My dad was nearly in tears when my brother took a jigsaw to the perfect bodywork 1

The guy who my brother sold it to has it stuck in his dads lockup. Its in a mess and I have been trying to buy it for nearly 10 years now, but he keeps saying he is going to restore it (although he doesnt have a clue). Slowly wearing him down I removed the last image as it was showing the regno
puddy Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 Don't worry , I made a note of it nice to hear it still survives though . puddy 1
Admin Vista Posted February 12, 2015 Admin Report Posted February 12, 2015 I bought a "B" plate SR around 1990 just to sell on (was a P/X where I worked), the rear arches were on there way then and the seat subframe needed welding! Still I got a profit out of it Mine was a 1983 Y in China Blue with black trim, the best colour combo they came in in my opinion. It was a mint low mileage example that I kept for about 3 1/2 years and sold in late 1991 for about £1500. £900 down for 3 1/2 years motoring I thought was a pretty good return. The mate I sold it to wrote it off in early 93 and somehow that was my fault. We never really spoke again after that so I never did get to understand how he'd worked the maths of that out in his head. Just a humble 1.6 carburetted 8 Valve OHC but it felt plenty quick back then. Not weighed down by all the modern safety trimmings I guess. Anyway I digress, here it is. I think I'm better at keeping pics of my cars than I am my kids! Spring 88 when first bought (and pre microwave door conversion) And now Summer 88 with the sunroof in place. Seems a long time since I looked like that! 2
The Transplanter Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 Cool I liked the MK1 shape, and I believe are quite sort after now? The thing I had was the Jelly Mould MK2 1
SmokeEm Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 See Scott, I've always said you've always been minted! The most I have EVER spent buying a car for personal use STILL stands at just 3k. Back in 88 it would've been £300. You must come from good stock 1

You must come from good stock No, it was just that we, as young matelots, were considered a very safe risk to lend to. I was up to my eyeballs in debt to Lloyds for that car
Admin Vista Posted February 12, 2015 Admin Report Posted February 12, 2015 Cool I liked the MK1 shape, and I believe are quite sort after now? The thing I had was the Jelly Mould MK2 Very sought after but oddly, considering how many were sold, few survive. Even of the more desirable sporting models
deltamal Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 When I first owned my Mk3, not quite sure where I was going with the look of it, fitted a Mk3 XR3I steering wheel and Scorpieo leather seats, didn't really suit it, so had the rim of the original steering wheel leather covered and fitted M3 Tina GT Tombstone seats.....I still have the Scorpieo seats.

I think it looks the dogs doo-dahs. Off on a slight tangent, anyone seen an x pack cortina, reckon it'll look good with the square shape. Google here I come...

accord83 Posted February 13, 2015 Report Posted February 13, 2015 That looks like a car kit you made out of cardboard which came on the back of a cereal packet.
