Morning

Hopefully moving in my first house soon after had a offer accepted :) ill be skint forever now haha.

The location isnt as good as at my parents, more on a main road. So im ideas or best produdct to secure my garages with my escort and girlfiends pop in. Anyone got any recommended products? Few things online but dont want to waste money on something that isnt any good or useless.

Ill be adding cctv, just after something to secure the doors as best possible. Seen the bars that can be fitted intermally to stop people moving stuff out if they get in

Thanks :)

Garage defenders, where you sink the device into concrete..not too intrusive but effective... The more you do, the more interest it might gain as you're obviously hiding something?

I bought an old Mondeo and park that in front of the garage door (got a driveway), plus I've got 2 internal bolts and locks, security light and CCTV. Inside the garage, I sunk in a ground anchor and I've got a large chain with a man sized padlock which I secure around the cross member...

It'll take em a week to get it out, by which time I would've got my trusty baseball bat and made light work of removing a limb or 2...

Depends on what type of door it is? Pair of side hinged doors with external padlock and staple always vulnerable to a crowbar. If affordable removable posts sunk in ground in front of doors that stops them opening works for side hinged (need two really) or up and over types. Bar/s inside are good as doors can be secured to them and then they to structure. Security lights and the loudest f**k off alarm siren you can find is always a welcome addition. I'm paranoid about mine - garage in a block away from house and has no power, so i'm always thinking i'll walk round there one day to find door ripped out of the frame!

Cheers lads.

Double opening side woodendoors. Going to fit the cctv and may get a nice loud alarm.

Like you say ill go from some sort of intenral ground anchor or the bar type and lock it down, dont want to much on the outside/front as you mentioend it draws attention to people that something of value might be hidden in there.

Currently because there is a few of us in our house, mines normally blocked in a little locked wooden lean to, but this new place is on corner plot and the garages if on the side part, so they could be in and out without be even knowing.... so want to make is a secure as possible for peace of mind :)

I've got Enfield bolt locks but they're only suitable for up and over doors as far as I know. And as above I bought an old fiesta to block the door to slow anyone down.

I've thought about a ground anchor too or a collapse able post but I rent my garage from my neighbour so not sure they'll be best pleased if I start digging holes.

on the subject of sirens, as many as your alarm will allow, but fit them inside rather than out and close to and above the doors, that way it dosnt draw general attention to what you might have, but if someone does set it off they cannot cope with the noise level inside the garage, you may have to fit the extra sirens yourself though as the alarm companies have laws to comply with, hidden strobes on the outside are good as well

there are lots of door security devices, so door dependant will depend on the device(s) used, but a good one on single wooden doors is to bolt on (with security bolts) a thick steel sheet, this is not necesarily to stop the thief from crow barring the door open as you might think, but the trend is/was, and ive seen it happen, to light a fire in front of the wooden door and burn it down, the steel sheet dosnt totally stop this, but it takes a long while to burn it down with it there

My dad owns a garage and had an alarm that plugs into the ......tape player.....yes it was a few years ago lol but these alarms generated more db than a jet engine, I fitted one in my Honda civic an f**k me was it loud, the idea was the theif couldn't stay in the car to steal it, so on that bases fit something / rig something up like air horns inside the car, they won't hang about for long!!!!

A good friend of mine, after having his house screwed, keys nicked, car nicked, fitted gamekeeper trip alarms. He lives in a very rural area. These are not a good idea around the home area, he came home from the pub, forgot the one on the back door............. :ugh:

He's now deaf in one ear, and apparently changing ones soiled pants when hammered isn't easy either. I nearly soiled mine laughing when he told me. :D
