PeteRS8084 Posted April 11, 2015 Report Posted April 11, 2015 Well after weeks of looking and not seeing any 7 x 13 inch wheels that were in a condition that I would be happy with, as I have priced refurbishment and if that was the case the wheels would have to be nearly at a give away price. So I bought, via e - bay (wharfgarage), a set of jbw 7 x 13 minilights. Polished rims with a gun metal coloured insert (cost including p & p also with new chrome valves and 16 metric stainless wheel nuts £32 ish give or take a quid or two). They look the dogs danglies! Went to my usual tyre fitting place, they would not fit them as they only had a metal foot on their tyre machine arm and said they would scratch them, so a run over the road to ats, they would not fit them either as they don't have a plastic foot on their machine, although they have one on the van, but that was not there! So of to slough tyres, no problems they said, and they were brilliant with all the very latest equipment, no damage no issues! So on with my supplied yokohama 175/50/13 no issues, straight on, and they used the new chrome valves supplied with the wheels, then a balance. Total fee £12 per wheel which I thought was right on. A quick clean up at my garage and then fronts on and then the rears, and to be honest I think that they would have had no issues if I had left on the 2 inch lowering blocks, but no issues at all now i have 1 inch blocks on. And with the deep dish they fill the space in the arches, but with the small tyres keep the south London look! So now just have to get the cibie 40 spotlamps wired up and do the interior jobs, fit the battery and then I should be ready to rock and roll! Pictures of the wheels and tyres prior to fitting ( can't do pictures of them on as my garage is tiny and I have no battery fitted). 4
PeteRS8084 Posted April 11, 2015 Author Report Posted April 11, 2015 That price was £327 ish! £32 and I would have bought a hundred sets lol!
PeteRS8084 Posted April 11, 2015 Author Report Posted April 11, 2015 Cheers they do look the business...............sure the purist would not be happy, but my car my rules lol. 2
PeteRS8084 Posted April 12, 2015 Author Report Posted April 12, 2015 Got the rs badges of e bay, cost a fiver, they come in black with silver rs or silver with black rs. Come in a set of four. Just peel of the backing and fit carefully ensuring a bubble free fit, and from 5 feet they look like a ford part lol.
skeeter Posted April 12, 2015 Report Posted April 12, 2015 They look great, but we really need a picture of them on the car for the full effect S
PeteRS8084 Posted April 12, 2015 Author Report Posted April 12, 2015 Like i said my car is disabled in my tiny garage, but today I installed and wired up my cibie 40i spotlights, tested them with jump leads to the battery terminals via my motorbike, all working! I also took a couple of pictures of the wheels on, bear with them as it's tight in there! But you get the picture lol. Cheers for the comments - and now it's some minor interior switches etc to do! 3
NudgerSS Posted April 12, 2015 Report Posted April 12, 2015 Like mine but I refurbished mine myself with a metal polishing kit and some paint 1
S c o o b y Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 Nice wheels arnt they I was well pleased with mine they really set the car off don't they . My mate said it take his eye off the car now he just looks at the wheels ll 1
PeteRS8084 Posted April 22, 2015 Author Report Posted April 22, 2015 I have another post about its first start up of the year, and you can see the wheels in all their glory, and the rest of her! Pete.
SmokeEm Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 I think I would fit a square front number plate but wheels look great
PeteRS8084 Posted April 23, 2015 Author Report Posted April 23, 2015 I have thought about a square plate for the front, but I would have to do some measuring as when the oblong one was fitted it was drilled on the the slam panel and I would have to cover the holes left when removing the oblong one with the square one. If that makes sense lol.
SmokeEm Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 It does but I feel getting the correct look would be worth the effort, even if you had to fill the holes and touch up paint.
PeteRS8084 Posted April 23, 2015 Author Report Posted April 23, 2015 I will have to do some measuring lol
jbxfr Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Great car wheels look great, might have to give the credit card another pasting! and treat mine to a set. What offset did you get? Pic of mine with square front plate.
PeteRS8084 Posted April 23, 2015 Author Report Posted April 23, 2015 The offset is minus 7, -7, 7 x 13 inch. Got them through wharfgarage on flea bay, cost just over 300 squid a set, came with stainless nuts and centre caps. Bought and arrived in less than 2 full days. To fit the tyres and balance cost 12 squid per wheel with no damage at all. And God they do look good on the car, and the final touch was the rs badges for the centre caps. And I do like the look of the square plate in the front of yours, like I said I will have to measure the pre drilled holes on the oblong plate, and if they could be utilised on a square plate fit all the better, I would not be interested in filling holes and painting just to fit a square plate. I have done another post about her first start last weekend, and there are pictures of her out of the garage with the wheels in all their glory. Cheers for the comments, always nice to think you have got something right! Pete
theloudboy Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Mmmmmm new wheels nice one mate and the A539s are a great all round tyre 1
