Has anyone got a switch blank for a mk1 Escort surplus to requirements and for sale please (cheapish)? I don't know if a Mk2 is the same, if it is, well one of those would do just dandy. Cheers, John.

Think thee is a mk2 one on flea bay at the moment, but the mk 1 switches look much bigger than the ones I have in my mk2, some sizing might not go amiss. Pete

Cheers Pete, I don't know any mk2's up here on the Fylde peninsular, but I'm sure to find one at a show this summer. I'll visit the garage odds and sods box for something which can be adapted if one doesn't turn up easily. This isn't a show car, it's a fun car so I am not happy paying new repro part prices on ebay for a small plastic bit.

In a rush of blood to the head I bought a used one off Ebay from a site sponsor. How much! :eeek: I think I lived in Yorkshire too long.

Everything costs............just once in a while you will find that part you need at a bargain price, it's makes you feel like you have stolen it!

Well, that answers that, a Mk2 blank falls through the hole..............., and lodged on the loom, just to make extraction awkward :wah:. So a Mk1 blank is still required.

I bet you could have got one at classic ford last weekend, I was on one of the retail stands and a guy was buying g some switches for his mk1, they had boxes of stuff........Mind I did hear the stall holder say at one point "you may want to sit down - this switch is 65 squid"................I nearly had to sit down and I was not buying it lol!

Keep an eye on flea bay!

Regards Pete

£5.99 + £3.50pp. Escort-Tec via Ebay. It was to cover the hole that the original 1974/75 Hazard switch inhabited (which appears to be made of golden moon rock judging by the prices, if one can be found) inhabited. Hole is approx. 45x20 mm.

Don't you start as well. So, I missed a great show, paid 5 times as much (inc postage) for a piece of plastic that doesn't fit, and now y'all picking on me..........

MUMMMM! The big boys are picking on me, AND laughing at me, again. :wah:

So to cheer myself up I went to the Cleveleys car show today and basked in the sun on the prom. (It was bloody freezing on the prom due to the stiff breeze)

I was by the car next door when an old guy came up, even older than me, looked at my car, and said to his grandson. "That's the way to do it boy, proper Old Skool, even a number 8 pool ball gear knob". Fair made my day.

accord83 are the mirrors on you mk1 any good visibility wise? I have bullet mirrors (not fitted yet) but a lot of people  say the bullets are not very good and I have been wondering about the peep mirrors.

The peep mirrors look great but are actually as much use as the tits on a bull. Nearside is too small to see anything of use, the offside is OK if you do 7 second centre mirror checks and over right shoulder checks before moving, old skool style. They are more of a thing that causes you to notice sudden motion or light from behind. Form over function.

Wow, I'd forgotten about this, no I never got a blank to fit, the hole is sporting an expertly? cut piece of black and nasty to cover it. I really should up my game and try again.
