DT36 Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 I'm not sure of the cost of a gas conversion to be honest, but it's got to be worth a quick google of your local area. I know a lad who bought a 740 BMW dirt cheap because everyone was afraid of the fuel costs on it, then he converted it over to gas. Haven't seen him in ages though to ask what he paid to get tit done. 1
Admin Vista Posted October 2, 2015 Admin Report Posted October 2, 2015 I've never heard of 20 profile either Jayne, sounds like a rubber band! Not really as it's 20% of 285mm = 57mm. Low profile but not excessively so.

skeeter Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 I agree! Everybody needs a comfy car with a big engine for when you feel like making gentlemanly progress. Here is mine, which has become my DD for the last few weeks... Ken 1
PeteRS8084 Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 I had an 850i, the bloke I bought it from had not really been using it. I used at as my daily driver. First week the rear steer hydronic pipe broke, that was an expensive fix. Then in the summer she started to heat up, not to bother I thought as they have an extra auxiliary electric fan mounted in front of the rad in the nose cone, she still kept getting hotter, then a massive bang and it was like a steam train. Popped the bonnet, rad exploded, expansion tank exploded......strange I thought so I removed the cover for the aux fan............It had been removed! Not that I would have ever checked.............another expensive fix! Kept it a year and used it as my business use vehicle, all good. You never see them, until you buy one. Driving down the M25 one morning I saw one owing down the third lane, he flashed his lights, then another came down lane one. We were like a red arrows formation! What a smooth engine that 5 litre v12 was. And 80s supercar technology, scary!
PeteRS8084 Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 You have all of this too come smokem -
SmokeEm Posted October 3, 2015 Author Report Posted October 3, 2015 I opened the bonnet this morning! Kinda full under there and rather complicated.
skeeter Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 I bought the M in late June as a keeper, low miles, full SH etc with the notion that I would drive it from time to time. However it quickly became the keys I grabbed for work and I have been enjoying the M so much that I actually sold my Porsche last weekend and haven't regretted the decision...... yet. I also found that having a small fleet of cars means you just don't drive them, when the M arrived that took us to 6 cars - for the two of us! We are now down to a more manageable 5 Ken
browneskids Posted October 13, 2015 Report Posted October 13, 2015 Understressed "119" engine is very strong, so is 5 speed autobox, diff & exhausts last well too. Heavy on brakes/tyres & front door trim parts dont seem to last for some reason. Remove trim just below wipers. Replace dust filter, clean out gutter drain holes & put a dab of oil on blower motor centre spindle to prevent it seizing (£400+) Also check vacuum pipes under seats arnt kinked/split 1
