Alot of people dont use them as they do weight a tonne! came on the car and have been good to me on road and occasion track with vented and drilled discs

colr6 Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 A lot depends on your budget, as above is a cheap option but they are now getting a bit expensive. Or go for a will wood kit calipers/ pads and 260mm discs at around £500.

Yeah i took mine off and put new stainless pistons in that i got via eBay, as whn i bought the car it has sat around the the surface rust on the piston stopped them working as well. since the rebuild they are spot on, stops better than 53 plate vw 1

khanlad Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 Ive got willwood superlites, 260mm discs, mintex pads, No servo . They took a bit of getting used to but they work, you have to give them a fair old shove but with a servo that probably wouldnt be as much of an issue? A cheaper idea, pretty sure you can get the spacers for the m16 calipers to allow you to run vented discs, it worked on capris, thats a heavier car to haul down? 2

But I have the mk2 escort rear disk conversion, cossie calipers and fiesta disks. They are all running through the servo. Sweet, no issues and stops a treat. But not difficult when I drive like I am driving miss daisy..............and that's before someone up norf says it! 2

zetecmk2 Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 i had princess 4 pots, no servo. the brake pedal felt like standing on a brick. the pedal didn't move...but the harder you push on the brick....the quicker it stopped! loved it. what's with 2 inches of pedal travel? just feels sloppy . wish i took note of the master cyl dia (bias pedal set up...no servo) everyone's different though.
Danish Posted October 25, 2015 Report Posted October 25, 2015 I did have WIlwoods on my Mk3 'tina, but they didn't seem that much better than the original callipers. For my rebuild I have a rebuilt set of standard M18s. I've also have a set of the larger M18s for estate cars - but I've struggled to get a vented kit for them, probably have to machine custom spacers.

livewire7116 Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 i run a hi spec 275mm set up with no servo and work spot on when i jump on them from 125mph on a tarmac stage, have to be picky with wheel choice tho as clearance is tight 1
