Hi my name is Mark

I have a mk2 rs2000 (22 years )that is hopefully going away soon to be restored!!!

What should of been a exciting time has been an absolute nightmare... Parts suppliers promiseing bits that they can't supply.... Waiting months for parts to arrive ..waiting 5 moths longer than the agreed restoration start date and my car is still waiting in my garage!!

I'm wondering if this is a typical experience or have I just been unlucky..

Welcome to osf, somethings take longer than others, and they do say the best things come to those who wait? Once it is done you'll be like a dog with two ....... you get the idea!

Sounds like par for the course to me! You have had the car 22 years and only just figured that one out? LOL You have lived a sheltered OldSkoolFord life :-)

Your even one up on me you wait for your parts to come from the other side of the world only to find out their are the wrong ones. Its not unheard to spend half a year just to get one issue totally sorted just to start all over again with another.

Whatever time and cost you plan be sure to triple it to give yourself a more accurate estimate. Keep telling yourself the fun is in the journey, it helps LOL

Welcome to the forum.

Hi

Thanks for the welcomes and replies..

Yep definitely must of led a sheltered life!!

I'm glad I'm not alone in experienceing long delays and dishonest suppliers

I really thought it was just a run of bad luck!!

It's my first car restoration and I'm on a learning curve !!

Not remotely in terms of delays though genuinely dishonest sellers are decreasing in number given how easy it is to get the message out about them in these days of social media.

Its getting worse with parts suppliers lately, i ordered some drag racing tyres back in February for this seasons OSFDC ordered them from LA racing on a two week lead time. Every week to be told there with the carrier then the carrier lost them then i got run over and the latest one my farther in law died last week.

Finally got delivered this Thursday got all excited about using them for racing at Retro show this weekend and guess what only one tyre has turned up :banghead:

Hi

I've had a similar experience.. I purchased from one seller

Upgraded front and rear brakes + front and rear suspension...(£2.4 k ) I checked his feedback on eBay which was excellent.. Did a Google company check which I could only find one review which was also good ... Then I made a mistake by not buying through eBay .... He told me everything was in stock except some front springs...

I waited weeks and weeks for less than half of it to be delivered only to find that it's completely wrong..

Many more weeks to the other half arrived and bits missing

Still promising to get me the correct gaz front shocks

Another month or so he eventually admits that he can't get these any more ... And then takes weeks to refund me ..,

What is also frustrating that gaz advertise this front coilover as a new product out in all the magazines retro ..classic ford etc but no longer make it in the adonised finish .,

I'm not impatient but I like people to be honest with me that's all I ask ...

On a plus note I've been to a couple of shows the classic ford at Santa pod was awesome by far the best show I've been too ...
