Hello, I am a new member on here and relatively new to the ford scene. Last month I bought a MK1 escort, some photos attached. I live in Northern Ireland.

Does anyone know of any good garages here that deal with MK1 escorts here both for bodywork and general maintenance etc (I myself would not be great at all in that department!)

Welcome to the site Ray. Looks a nice piece of kit you've bought. There is a few members from your area should be able to point you right direction.

Welcome!

Great car straight out of the box, nothing left to do!

How harsh do you find it with those top mounts?

Cheers

I have not done a lot of driving in it yet but it seems not to bad so far!

Hello all

I joined here last month and just two months ago I bought a MK1 escort that had been fully restored and fitted with a dunnells engine, see some photos in the new members introduction area.

I tried to post in the classified section but it would not let me.

Knowing my luck just when I have bought the escort a car that I had trying to buy a few times previously (the seller said he would not sell it) is going to becoming onto the market! (it is not a Ford so be gentle!). Anyhow before I could consider the other car now I would have to sell the MK1 escort - I am a bit disappointed as the escort is a really great car and I have just got it but I have been looking at this other car since 4 years or so. I paid £25600 for it so would be looking in and around that for it - if anyone is interested let me know. Thanks.

Just a brief description of my MK1 escort. It is finished in Ermine White and has every conceivable upgrade necessary to compliment the Dunnell engineered Zetec power plant.

This car was supplied when new by Candor Motors of Colchester whose invoice is included in the history. The total "on the road" price amounted £769-14-0 at that time! An immense amount of paperwork accompanies this impressive, potent racing machine.

I have had a long chat with the previous owner and builder of this car. He came across the car in 2001 and at that time it was a standard Ford Escort Super. Owned by husband and wife and showing 60,000 genuine miles. The car was ultra solid and required the smallest amount of new steel work, in fact one or two areas 'around the size of a 20p piece' was how it was described.

The car was fully stripped and strengthened where required before the Zetec / Retro transformation took place. The car also runs a limited slip rear diff and a bullet gearbox with new Quaife internals. Linked rear axle, front & rear disc brake conversion, uprated coilovers, sump guard & rollcage etc. Paul Dunnell of 'Dunnell race engines' supplied the current 2.0 Zetec CFMS injection engine. This car is like new and has been built to exception standards.

To be honest I bought this as a 'keeper' but I have always wanted a W124 E500 and I have seen a few recently that have caught my eye hence I have decided to put this up for sale.
