this is the post.

Hi,
First of all I apologise if I have not filled this section in correctly but I am a doris!
Basically, I took my beloved Fiesta into a garage in Herne, Kent to be resprayed and she has been returned to me bits - she has been stripped down ready for respraying and welding - so I just have the body with all the parts just thrown in the back. I paid the garage upfront (yes I know) and he has now closed down and I was lucky to actually get my car back.
I do not know where to start first in sorting this problem out - can anyone help - I live in Kent and am Deaf and have a Hearing Dog for Deaf People called Jamie
Look forward to hearing from anyone.
Take care
Maggie and Jamie

I might have a spare bone for the dog , lol .

Both my mum and dad are/were deaf and I have lived with the deaf community all of my life ,

but  tbh ,they are just as savvi as we non hearing impaired folk , especially nowadays with the internet to gen up on .

She should have not have been so daft to pay up front I'm afraid ,she will just have to start with a decent bodyshop all over again imho .

Good luck , Puddy

Well, just thought I'd give it a wider audience, no dramas......I remember the times when people helped me out in my younger days when I hadn't a clue and thought maybe there might be a club locally that might be able to do something to help. Deaf or not, still a ford fan and we all need help of some sorts at one time or another......now where to I buy a fiat lol

It doesn't mean we don't want to help, more that she needs to take professional legal advice if she wants to try and recover her money.

Was merely posting in case someone was in a position to help, agreed, never part with money til after the work, whatever it is. Don't know the lady and too far away to be of what limited use I might be anyway lol.

Most companies are the same these days welcome to 2016 pal

Not around here. Plumber, roofer, gardener - all get paid when the job's done (and done properly).

I project managed a complete house re-furb and that was the same - payment wasn't made until the work was finished, and that was some fairly big items like new boiler, new garden wall, etc.

Same down here Jayne, any company that wants money up front doesn't get the job unless the amount they ask for is only a small percentage to cover initial outlay.

Give worcester bosch a call to fix your boiler and see if they will come out without being paid first

I ask for 50% deposit on jobs over £500 which is paid before i start

The balance is paid on day of completion.

Different people have their own prefered payment structures

You only ever here about the cowboys in the building trade ,you never here of the cowboy custumers who have no intention of paying!!

And before aomeone says take them to small claims courts, its a complete waste of time

So i get my money up front if people dont like it then sorry tuff,i have weeks of people booked in my diary who are more than glad to accept my terms for my top service

Rant over

I have a brand new WB boiler. WB came out to diagnose the faults with the old 400 High flow, they were paid after they'd been. They then fitted a new 440......and were paid after it was fitted.
