2512pf Posted December 3, 2016 Report Posted December 3, 2016 Putting a zetec in a genuine mex really?
Admin Vista Posted December 3, 2016 Admin Report Posted December 3, 2016 Putting a zetec in a genuine mex really? I kinda agree.......but it's his car so is entirely his choice.
2512pf Posted December 3, 2016 Report Posted December 3, 2016 I kinda agree.......but it's his car so is entirely his choice.Just my opinion no offence intendedBut a gen mex with a focus engine is wrong and surely devalue the car?
Ray Posted December 3, 2016 Report Posted December 3, 2016 Putting a zetec in a genuine mex really? i have to agree theres plenty of standard Escorts to do it to, that it would increase their value as well, but do it to an unmolested Mex, you are ruining what is a special fairly rare and valuble car, and in my opinion de valuing it, not increasing it on the up side i suppose, the more of you that do it to unmolested special cars, the more it raises the value on the remaining ones
2512pf Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 I kinda agree.......but it's his car so is entirely his choice. Well thats two things we agree on
colr6 Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 If the guy wants to put a zetec in and it can be done without altering any structure then there's no problem. Keep all original parts to return as was. Then he has a greater market if he needs to sell, the modified or original.

2512pf Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 its not a modification Colin, its insulting and ruining a histotic national treasure Here here well said
colr6 Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 its not a modification Colin, its insulting and ruining a histotic national treasure I can see your point Ray, if everyone was a purist we wouldn't have any of the nice cars we have today. All would be the same, as they came off the line many years ago. Would be a bit like the foci car park. All mk1 escorts, only difference would be the colour. Now we don't want that do we. 1
Ray Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 do it to a std model, and fine, no argument colin, its a modification i just feel that there are certain models that should be left as original as possible i also accept that when iy comes to the likes of an anglebox, no one feels that its worth replicating parts to original spec, so any old junk that fits will do lol
colr6 Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 i also accept that when iy comes to the likes of an anglebox, no one feels that its worth replicating parts to original spec, so any old junk that fits will do lol Oooooooh Ray felt that right between the shoulder blades
Admin Vista Posted December 4, 2016 Admin Report Posted December 4, 2016 I feel it's the Owner's car and therefore his choice. He's asked for insurance recommendations and instead has just been flamed for his Zetec choice. Live and leg live, they aren't that rare and he isn't doing anything that can't be undone. One word of advice to the OP though, if it's a matching numbers car, DO NOT whatever you do, get rid of the original x-flow. Set it aside in your garage with cheap but clean oil in it and turn it over by hand regularly.
2512pf Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 Yes i kind of agree But we are only expressing an opinion ,nothing personal or in bad taste Thats what OUR forum is for Just please please if you do put a zetec in keep all the original parts to put it back to as it was ,these cars ARE very rare in unmolsted condition Anyway good luck and try cherished insurance they are great
