berry Posted December 28, 2016 Report Posted December 28, 2016 Hi.what Lsd do you guys think will be best to run in a atlas axle that would be capable of running 700bhp+....running on street and strip.....I'm going to use a pair of 255 40 17s on a set of 17x10j steels on rear also
JP. Posted December 28, 2016 Report Posted December 28, 2016 Not sure if I would use and atlas axle with that kind of power. I would consider a Ford 9" 1
jamie956 Posted December 28, 2016 Report Posted December 28, 2016 500 hp is about as much as you would want to go on an atlas after that it's the CWP that's going to be the problem, 700 hp is definitely 9" territory. 1
berry Posted December 28, 2016 Author Report Posted December 28, 2016 I thought about a 9" but they ain't regularly available these days
berry Posted December 28, 2016 Author Report Posted December 28, 2016 Is there a jag axle that could cope with it you think?
colr6 Posted December 28, 2016 Report Posted December 28, 2016 What about reliant scimitar, which I believe you can fit the jag internals in with a bit of machining. The only weak spot would be the shafts possibly.
berry Posted December 29, 2016 Author Report Posted December 29, 2016 What jag axles have the Lsd as standard I don't mind doing fab work to fit the carrier cage..where there's a will there's a way and all that

Looked into that too it's one certain kind that you can put the Daimler or mk2 jag internals in and again years ago pretty frequently available but these days everything's getting harder and more expensive to find..... Also looked at the volvo axle that was used in a lot of drag cars because it was strong but hens teeth these days
berry Posted December 29, 2016 Author Report Posted December 29, 2016 Just sent driveline 3j a email I'll let you know what they say
jamie956 Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 3j are crap Linden with the 450hp mk2 escort has destroyed his several times, gripper seams to be the best option for big power and squires shafts. Your going to be looking at least 2k for a built atlas i would of thought you could get a 9'' for the same money.
jamie956 Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 one here on ebay, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-9-inch-rear-axle-/401242329005?hash=item5d6be80fad:g:sZAAAOSwnHZYUEPl
SmokeEm Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 I'd use a Volvo axle. Some of those have LSD as std and can take massive power n torque
HotRodMatt Posted December 30, 2016 Report Posted December 30, 2016 Any drag car workshop (Hauser, Chris Isaacs, Andy Robinson, etc) should be able to supply a 9" from a bare casing to fully assembled. Google and ring round.
berry Posted January 3, 2017 Author Report Posted January 3, 2017 Thanks for the info guys..I've got the chance to buy a volvo 245 axle are these the same as 240 axle wise??
HotRodMatt Posted January 8, 2017 Report Posted January 8, 2017 Thanks for the info guys..I've got the chance to buy a volvo 245 axle are these the same as 240 axle wise??Couldn't tell you to be honest. Google is your friend.
berry Posted February 4, 2017 Author Report Posted February 4, 2017 They seem to be the same....I've read people running 600bhp through standard ones so when time comes to fit turbos it should be up to job with a lsd kit aswel Plus It has disc brakes so saved me abit
puddy Posted February 5, 2017 Report Posted February 5, 2017 What engine and box are you using for this 700hp beast ?
