berry Posted March 17, 2017 Report Posted March 17, 2017 Due to me changing rear axle on my capri I need to change wheels.iv got 16's at min but looking at 17's 8.5j front 9.5j back My question is who's running 17's and what's it drive like with them on...I'll stick with 16's if need be but I can only get 245s in 16's
Admin Vista Posted March 17, 2017 Admin Report Posted March 17, 2017 Big bling spinners, wicked innit.
berry Posted March 17, 2017 Author Report Posted March 17, 2017 Haha noooooooooo I'm looking at having a set of black nascar style wheels made
Admin Vista Posted March 18, 2017 Admin Report Posted March 18, 2017 I don't think I've seen 17" wheels fitted to any car on here, most prefer to stick to 13" but some, myself included, go up to 15". Curious as to why you need tyres wider than 245 though?
aardvark101 Posted March 18, 2017 Report Posted March 18, 2017 Curious as to why you need tyres wider than 245 though? One million, million horsepowers

Admin Vista Posted March 18, 2017 Admin Report Posted March 18, 2017 Why not a trillion? Or even billions? 2
berry Posted March 18, 2017 Author Report Posted March 18, 2017 Haha no not a million or a trillion I'll be putting about 500+hp with a 150 shot of nos on top of that so I want to make sure I can put it to the road ..... Like I said iv already got 16x10s on back and 16x9 on front plus it's always nice to be a little different
brettp Posted March 18, 2017 Report Posted March 18, 2017 I had 17s on mine with low profiles it drove like a bag of shite tracked all over the road I've got 245/45/16 r888s on the back and 225/45/16 on the front drives nice handles great but I will go wider on the back one day as I've got mini tubs so can get wider on the back I think Pirelli have just brought out a wider style track /road legal range of tyres

brettp Posted March 18, 2017 Report Posted March 18, 2017 the 17s where crap mainly because of the low profile tyres but 17s with a larger tyre are to tall
berry Posted March 19, 2017 Author Report Posted March 19, 2017 the 17s where crap mainly because of the low profile tyres but 17s with a larger tyre are to tall It was the sidewall that was bothering me with how i want the coilovers set up in didn't want it to be to harsh a ride.....the days of me bouncing down road and putting up with it are long gone lol
brettp Posted March 19, 2017 Report Posted March 19, 2017 Don't go to mad with the spring rate 290/300 on the front works great on mine I had 400 and it drove crap and didn't handle as well
berry Posted March 20, 2017 Author Report Posted March 20, 2017 I'm sure the set up is 300....I got the coilovers with Spax adjustable inserts and brembo brakes as a deal
totti Posted April 21, 2017 Report Posted April 21, 2017 Carefully choosen 17" on a classic Ford? No problem! Cheers 4
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted April 21, 2017 Moderator Report Posted April 21, 2017 @ Totti. I dont traditionally like oversized wheels buts thats the best I have ever seen 1
ShaunS Posted April 25, 2017 Report Posted April 25, 2017 Dont do it , the ride gets terrible, cant turn steering full in either way and the car just follows the camber of the road. I used a 20 ofsett rim as well in 17 Inch, so no spacers was needed. But not worth it 1
ianbavs Posted April 25, 2017 Report Posted April 25, 2017 Unless it's an arched car it prob rub on full lock and cornering Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
stephens_xpack Posted April 26, 2017 Report Posted April 26, 2017 Wheels also need o suit the car, not sure those 17's on the mk2 above would suit the car in any size. Not having a dig, just my personal opinion. wheels can definitely make or break the look of a car.
