I was asking about this, i was thinking bout doin it on mine but rapidly changed my mind, it sounds like fun in principal but would be a nightmare all the time, i might do one for the odd weekend or a laugh at santa pod

ok have you been go karting before? think like that, if you weld the diff (locking it) you basically have a gokart) it wont handle very well when turning but is great for straight line starts ie santa pod.

the diff allows the car to corner properly and when turning a corner one wheel turns fast than the other (e.g, the inner rear wheel turns slower than the outer rear wheel). the diff allows this to happen. with out the diff the wheels will turn at the same rate meaning that tyres will not be gripping the tarmac. fast tyre wear and the inability to turn corners properly are the result (plus if you got sitcky tyres, then youl probably break a half shaft or strip the teeth off the crown wheel.

If you want the best of both worlds, then an lsd is the way to go.

Mucho fun mate - but then you know how i drive

Twat parking or manuvering at low speed, horrible banging noises, tyre wear etc.

but by far the scariest is the understeer you get, wet road, welded diff, tight corners and ditches do not go well together at any speed.

try it mate you might like it - not on a daily runner tho
