i was thinkin about it but dint think i would have the time .

if you have the time mate you should go for it its a good way to help people regardless of gettin paid .

and as far as ppl who cant stand the police i have only ever met 1 who was a cock the rest have been proper 8) .i work in a bike shop and supply surrey police so ive met a good few .

i thought about doing it but being a paramedic i thought it might throw up some ethical problems with some of the things i have to deal with so i joined the coastguard and am a member of a search and rescue team instead, all good fun 8)

i considered it, but i don't think i could put up with the abuse that you'd get and i'd want to hit some little shites with my truncheon

From a civilian's point of veiw I think comunity police are a good thing as we have quite a few around me and we see more of them than we do "real" police. A police pressence anywhere is better than none whether it be "Real" or "Wannabe" police. Im all for the community and say if you want to do it, Do it mate and good on ya for giving something back

I was a special for nine and a half years with Surrey police in and around Godalming and i recomend it to anyone because if more people did you wouldn't get comments like" the police are all pigs".

I thought about doing it before as a way of getting my foot in the door, does anyone know if being a hobby bobby( @Jo) could lead to getting into the police full time :?:

Its not a direct way into the regular police but its a bloody good insite into the job and looks good on the application form and you get to see whether your suited to the job as its not all car chases and murders

tell me about it. my missus is in the child abuse investigation team (hate them too jay?) and the amount of real nasty, nasty people she has to deal with makes my skin crawl.
