Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted October 13, 2017 Moderator Report Posted October 13, 2017 Ive never seen a painted one either but I must say I think more owners should do it as its the nicest looking one I have ever seen.
colr6 Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 They started painting them to try and up sales figures. As we all know it failed. This one has just undergone a full nut and bolt resto on the plus side it's one of a few that were factory turbocharged.
RWL81P Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 yeah agreed they do look a bit shit unpainted

colr6 Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 The pics don't do it justice, it looks stunning in the flesh. When next to the original stainless car it makes them look awful.
colr6 Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 Think they used the Renault 25 engine which is just fuel injected.
colr6 Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 He bought it when he went to Florida on holiday, normal people come back with a Mickey Mouse as a momento, not him came back with two Deloreons. Try getting away with that as hand luggage allowance....lol
RWL81P Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 great 80s film but was never that into dmc. for me it was a 69 charger in orange.

colr6 Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 I'm not a fan of them either Ray, but he pulled all the stops out on that one. I saw it as just a backbone during the build and even everthing that is unseen is just as good as the top. There was so much meticulous attention to every detail it was unreal. Every nut and bolt on that has been anodised in the correct colour, he wasn't tempted to replace with stainless equivelents. Must be as was and to honest it looks stunning wherever you look on it. He's been to the shops in it after the MOT and that's it.
stephens_xpack Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 That is a stunning looking DeLorean, and agree that, although I am a bit of a stickler for original finish, that is so much better with a top quality paint job, gorgeous. Charger also one of my other faves...... I got a few faves going on. Wish I had got one of either when they were still affordable...
RWL81P Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 it does look stunning, paint looks the nuts, but how does he see over the bonnet when going to the shop for a 10p mix?

It's factory paint apart from the bonnet, which did have some blistering in the lacquer. It did take a few goes to get the paint to match as it was an American mix.

Yes, luckily he has a railway line right where he lives. So no corner just wait for the next train for a push ! Doesn't matter when the train comes cos you've put the required time in the dash.
