Spoke to a guy last week who it took a year to register an Austin Healey, twice recorded delivery and signed for!.........LOST! He was not a happy bunny as they’d lost all the paperwork you like to keep with an old car for some providence.
Monza Posted January 26, 2019 Report Posted January 26, 2019 I had lost my old style log book over the years with house moves etc. Car had been off the road for about 30 years. Applied to dvla to get new one along with £25 fee and it arrived after about 3 weeks. Only thing missing was the model "GT".Had a bit of trouble re-instating this but following a few phone calls to the "escort owners club"and a letter of authenticity, and help from "our Vista" of course.... they sorted it out. Found the dvla very helpful.Took car for first mot, failed then passed the following day (saturday). Walked over the road to small village post office and taxed it. Lady in post sorted historic vehicle on v5 and sent it off for me!!New v5 came back after 2 weeks.....I couldn't fault the dvla....but maybe I was lucky!!Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Monza Posted January 26, 2019 Report Posted January 26, 2019 Forgot to say....I've just re-taxed the escort and its now time for 2nd mot. Taxing it took seconds on line. No questions re modified. Couldn't be easier! Will continue to mot it tho...Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted January 26, 2019 Moderator Report Posted January 26, 2019 Double check if both lots of 25 pounds were deposited and if they have, that is technically theft not lost.

Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk We used to have a cable company like SKY that when you tried to cancel they claimed they needed it in writing but always said they never received it. Funny though the three months in a row they didn't receive the cancellation they managed to bank the monthly payment check that was stapled to it. In this case is the DVLA has asked you to resubmit payment after cashing the first then that is theft through deception. Send the bully boys round to get your money back.

With a drop of water starts an ocean.
Monza Posted January 26, 2019 Report Posted January 26, 2019 waste of time threatening dvla they are a government agency Don't need to threaten them....if the cheque's been cashed/banked then there's the proof that they've received the paperwork.....surely??Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
colr6 Posted January 26, 2019 Report Posted January 26, 2019 I’ll be chrckin* the statements to see if the first cheque was cashed ? what gets me is they said that they have no record of vehicle on record so how can they issue a v5 ? Good for me a legitimate request, but how many shady cars have been done the same way? Maybe they’ll send me a v5 and leave me to fill the blanks in...lol. Could be the first MG RS 1800 you’ve ever seen....lol The only info I gave them was reg and chassis number. Be interesting to see what other info is on the v5 when it comes, with a bit of luck it may come back as a v8 MG or even a MGC?? Well according to them they’ve no info so it could be made into anything ?
