I doubt DVLA have enough cash spare to pay for thousands of inspections just through people taxing cars. They don't need to. They just wait for the people to send in applications for log books for cars that have sat in barns for years and then ask for photo evidence, or wait for people to transfer cherished number plates. I'd imagine that keeps them plenty busy.

it is doing thats why they have a company doing all their inspections for them, a pop in the wisbech area earlier this year had its number and chassis number revoked on a plate transfer inspection and that as modified way over 30 years ago

I've sent log book off for my mg ( 1st style v5 ) not been taxed motd for 20 yrs plus previous owner dead ! It's been away nearly 3 weeks now. That's an ideal scenario to see what the dvla are doing. Will keep you posted. Being a 71 it's tax and mot exempt.

Yes I know all that but the company they use doesn't do them for free do they, thats my point. It costs DVLA for each visit they do. So they only do them where they need to or suspect when something aint right. They're not going to do thousands of visits on hunch of someone ticking box on a website, because even SGS dont have that amount of staff.

I submitted my current MOT with the tax-exempt request at the post the office  and received my new historic registration form with no questions, mine has been modified a little bit!

it should come back without historic you will need to tax it at a post office to get it changed

Been on with the dvla today as its 6 weeks since I sent off the v5 for update.. They've now come back to say I have to fill in form v55 and a 765 to keep its original reg ! Apparently it's not on their records due to been off the road for 20yrs even though I have an original v5 So this is going to be a £55 first reg fee plus to get the car authenticated by a MG ? person. We will see what happens after that!!

bloody hell, hope I don't get the same sh1t, mines just gone off, as I taxed it last week, did you get yours MOTd first Colin, purple beast did at least have a current V5c, and I MOT'd it first, even though the post office weren't interested in that, but the mot details are now on the DVLA site, had no trouble with the motorbike last year, and that didn't have a V5 at all, but again I had it MOT'd first

The reg Mark is WAJ 414J. According to the young lady, it wasn't on their system. Although I had a v5 for it !! Which I sent off with me as new owner, previous owner deceased. My v5 has not been returned, that's why I rang them. One of the things on the forms to authenticate the application is, have you the v5?

Hope od it ain't all the same crap right through and a £55 first reg fee, I've another 10 to do!!!!
