Admin Vista Posted January 20, 2019 Admin Report Posted January 20, 2019 There's nothing currently wrong with my car but has Anyone got real world experience of having this done as a preventative maintenance measure? If so, any feedback / comments? I.e. did you notice any difference? Was it worth it? What do they actually do? Do you get to see the results, i.e. the removed debris? Thanks in advance.
DT36 Posted January 20, 2019 Report Posted January 20, 2019 Never tried it. I use Redex in my Escort about every 5 tanks, which seems OK. Plugs always look clean and carbs have been on there 6 years with no issues. Use Wynns DPF fluid in my Diesel about every 6 months, then drive it on a dual in 3rd gear for about 20 mins at about 3000rpm. This gets my exhaust temp up around 500 odd degs and keeps the EGR off. Done 56k in it now and never had a DPF warning.
Admin Vista Posted January 20, 2019 Author Admin Report Posted January 20, 2019 I've owned my daily diesel for 5 years and 67k. I have never added any additive to the fuel but it's serviced annually and does plenty of motorway miles. I too have never had a DPF warning, I just wondered if it's worth doing as a belt an braces type approach.........or if it's just some snake oil type hokum designed to increase profits for the manufacturer. 1
herb capri Posted January 23, 2019 Report Posted January 23, 2019 I tried it's got on a Mazda 6 and cleared it for about 1000 miles . OK that was on a vehicle that had high miles and the engine management light was up but I'm not overly keen on it . what kind of vehicle is it? Maybe as a preventative a DPF cleaner I have used them in the past Mike 1
Ray Posted January 23, 2019 Report Posted January 23, 2019 theres been some real bad results around this way on the actual terraclean poduct, resulting in total engine re builds, the garages around herehave turned to different makes over the last couple of years with good results, I spoke to him yesterday, and basically his answer was that if the man doing the job was not correctly trained, then any of them, no matter what make can destroy an engine, and basically, only do it, if and when needed, he does a few a month 1

No faults displaying and I've never had any DPF warnings. 10 minutes ago, Ray said: theres been some real bad results around this way on the actual terraclean poduct, resulting in total engine re builds, the garages around herevhave turned to different makes over the last couple of years with good results, I spoke to him yesterday, and basically his answer was that if the man doing the job was not correctly trained, then any of them, no matter what make can destroy an engine, and basically, only do it, if and when needed, he does a few a month Ok, that's interesting Ray thanks. I too have read some feedback of people's engines lunching themselves soon afterwards and the Terraclean agent saying "Nout to do with us Jack, not our problem". I think I will probably leave well alone.
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted January 23, 2019 Moderator Report Posted January 23, 2019 What does this stuff actually do and how is it applied? When you started this thread I thought it was just some kind of oil additive you poured in yourself, it appears its a bit more industrial than that?
