Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted January 29, 2019 Moderator Report Posted January 29, 2019 I bought a box of Original Ford instrument voltage regulators. I mainly bought them for the Escort ones to tinker with (A project I will post in another thread) but the others it would be nice to know what they are for. Some have it written on them but best to try confirm exactly. Part numbers aren't always an indication of all models if the part is shared with different models. Speak up if you see something you recognise. 1/ Part no. 72 GB - 10804 - AA (Marked Granada on the box) 2/ Part no. 80BB 1084 BA (Marked Escort but I dispute that its unlike anything I have seen on an Escort Mk1 or 2) 3/ Part no. 120E 10804 A2 (marked AC Made i England) 4/ Part no. C5EH 10804B (Marked Tacho on Box) 5/ Two of same Part no. 71 BB10804 AA (Marked Mk3 Cortina bit I also know this to be Mk2 Escort Sport/Ghia dash) 6/ Part no. C9CH 10804 B (Stamped with Ford symbol on arm) 7/ Part no. 120E - 10804 - A1 (Identical to #3 except A1 instead of A2) 8/ Box says Part no. 682 F 1207 AA (Unit stamped 120E 10804 A2 same as #3) Any help wit these greatly appreciated and if its not for Escort and you need it let me know as happy to sell on what I dont need.
Admin Vista Posted January 29, 2019 Admin Report Posted January 29, 2019 If two is escort, I would say it's mk3 Escort. It's a part first used in 1980. 4 also looks like a dash voltage regulator 1
eeb43 Posted January 29, 2019 Report Posted January 29, 2019 a-escort/focus b-cortina-sierra d-d series e-capri f-fiesta g-granada v-transit the first 2 numbers denote when a vehicle is first fitted with a part but! not necessarily just used on that vehicle 1

I have never need an Mk2 Escort dash or any of the three main types able to take a regulator like that. The screw in point is flat not with a raised copper tubing. #4 id defintely a Voltage Regulator as it has the 10804 signature in its part number. the 'for tacho' was just what was handwritten on the box. #4 and #6 Could be Mk1 escort possibly as they seem to mount reverse to the Mk2 ones and have push on terminals compared to the plug in Mk2s? I can take more images if anyone would like a closer look.
Admin Vista Posted January 29, 2019 Admin Report Posted January 29, 2019 Truthfully James, I am crap with part numbers and their meaning. When you said name them, I was going to suggest Gordon, Henry, James, Edward, Thomas, Percy and Toby ?

When you said name them, I was going to suggest Gordon, Henry, James, Edward, Thomas, Percy and Toby ? Hahaha I am bad too. Some people seem to see exactly what car they are from the Part Numbers. I haven't been able to do that. It was only when they arrived today that I saw the same pattern hidden in the part number on all of then 10804 so now know that means Voltage regulator. But I only learned that this very day, but im always finding out something new even when you think there isn't much to learn after 30 years but there really is much. I just hoped someone may recognise one or two from seeing them on the own instruments. I thought it may be nice to have if someome on the forum needed one. You don't get original Ford stuff like these in job lots very often.
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted January 30, 2019 Author Moderator Report Posted January 30, 2019 #4 and #6 are similar units just with their brackets pointing in different directions. They aren't Mk1 Escort as that appears to be a third type where the bracket is at an angle to the main body of the regulator. Both 2 dial and 6 dial appear to have this same regulator. They are certainly similar vintage in design to the Mk1 Escort so they have to be from a car of that period. Mk2 Cortina appears to be the same as this Mk1 escort type as well. #5 is Definitely Mk3 Cortina as written on the box. It also is Mk2 Escort (Not RS) and Granada Mk1. #1 has Granada written on its box but the Mk1 Granada Instrument cluster I have checked out from the back shows the #5. So is #1 is Granada it would have to be later than a Mk1. Not having Grandas sold here im not even sure what the different dashes look like.
Gary Cant Posted July 1, 2021 Report Posted July 1, 2021 Is there any chance of buying this regulator? Here's hoping, regards. Gary. Can contact on garycant@talktalk.net.
Veemax Posted July 5, 2021 Report Posted July 5, 2021 80BB is surely Mk3 Escort 120E parts are Corsair and may have been used in Mk 1 Cortina 1
