chinkamon Posted September 23, 2019 Report Posted September 23, 2019 Got me new badge on the car this morning, don't ask what happened to the old one, bit of a sore subject I'm looking forward to how many purists it'll upset 😂😂
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted September 23, 2019 Moderator Report Posted September 23, 2019 Why would they get upset? Is it meant to say Cortina rather than Consul? If it fits then Consul must have been put on some models? (I tipped over your image so you could see it better. 😀) 1
notenoughtime Posted September 23, 2019 Report Posted September 23, 2019 My ‘64 cortina had consul on the badge 1
chinkamon Posted September 23, 2019 Author Report Posted September 23, 2019 Yea cos only certain models were called a consul cortina mines a deluxe, it was called a consul cortina until 64 apparently, unless badged as some other trim, I. E. Deluxe, super, g.t etc. I had one guy get his ass out with me not so long back because I got the chrome trim on the side, "your model was never built with that trim, what do you think you're doing" And one know it all took a lot of pleasure in telling me my dash is wrong. Must be out of an anglia or something he said, cortinas were made with round guages you've ruined that car..... (nope he's wrong) Hot rodders are the same, some won't even look at your car if somethings not to the 'correct spec' I just like upsetting those types of people 😂😂I'm a bit like that 😂

chinkamon Posted September 23, 2019 Author Report Posted September 23, 2019 That's true I've had comments about my illegal lights, they're not yellow flashing lights on the front, that's how they were when made..... Nope. They don't get it?
caprimk1v4 Posted September 23, 2019 Report Posted September 23, 2019 I keep getting told my 76 MK2 Escort Mexico should have black door handles "Only Ghia's had chrome one's". Gives me the right hump it does, also got told "Only Cortina Pinto Engines had blue rocker cover, cam belt cover & blue air filter""Should be black on Escorts to identify the smaller length block" !!!!!???? W.T.F. !!!!!!!!!! 3

W.T.F. !!!!!!!!!! Wow. I have heard the same thing about Blue and Black Pinto engines here in Australia!!! I only thought it was local idiots. The chrome Mexico handles is a common one that fools alot of people. On Australian Rally Packs they should also have chrome handles but I put black ones on mine and absolutely no one has ever told me they are wrong!

According to the Ford sporting book prior to August 1977 chrome handles were fitted then swapped to black.🤓🤓 1
notenoughtime Posted September 23, 2019 Report Posted September 23, 2019 Some Ford adverts show chrome handles prior to 78 on RS models
colr6 Posted September 23, 2019 Report Posted September 23, 2019 Reading more in the book it’s states spring 1976 for chrome, so a slight contradiction in the same book !!

Vehicles first used before 1 September 1965 may have white front indicators and red rear indicators, if the direction indicators are combined with stop lamps or combined with front or rear position lamps. On vehicles first used on or after 1 September 1965 with direction indicators combined with position lamps, the position lamp must go out when its direction indicator is flashing. Taken from the MOT testers manual.
