Jerrytom161 Posted March 3, 2020 Report Posted March 3, 2020 Hi , please can anyone help me ? i am after a bulb holder for a mk1 escort rear heated window loom that fits into the back of the switch it takes a 286 capless bulb . Or does anyone know where i can purchase them from ? I have checked with autosparks and they dont do them . Have had a google search and they seem to be an oddball holder and nothing comes up . I don't know if any other fords at the time were fitted with these ? If so could someone let me know . I would appreciate any help you can give . I have attached photos of what i am looking for if this helps . thanks Guys . David

caprimk1v4 Posted March 3, 2020 Report Posted March 3, 2020 Vista is correct in saying that this lamp holder will physically fit the switch on a MK1, but is only a single wire lamp holder, the Earth side of the MK2 Escort bulb holder picks up from the inside of the MK2 switch, so you would have to carefully solder a wire to the exposed conductor strip on the outside of the holder, as the MK1 switch does not have the corresponding earth return in the switch.

Have sent the guy the dimensions and photos they look the same as Triumph/ BSA warning lights made by Lucas . Will let you know when he gets back to me . 🤞🤞
caprimk1v4 Posted March 3, 2020 Report Posted March 3, 2020 I hope he has something for you, I bought some lamp holders for my Gauges that were from Triumph/BSA but they used a 501 capless lamp !!, hopefully he does both types. Al.

Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted March 4, 2020 Moderator Report Posted March 4, 2020 The long nose on the Lucas holders is pretty unique so as to facilitate the bulb getting deeper into the unit. Try expanding your search to the more commonly used name for the bulb as in "T5 Bulb Holder or base" It should give you a broader range to select from and then some form of modification by way of filing down the lugs/bump stops of the new holder, which are generally closer to the bulb on most of the generic holders. A slow file and fit method till it slides in all the way for a snug press fit may prove your only alternative if a genuine Lucas one cant be sourced.
