Brenda has been off the road for 6 weeks with humongous starting and idling issues coupled with destruction of a few starter motors cones.

I think she is almost back to normal now and will idle and not cut out at junctions. Still not 100% but at least its driveable.

No idea to be honest. I suspected the regulator might be restricting flow somehow. I had a dodgy connection on the bestek that was not easy to see. Coupled with a faulty new fuel pump.

It's ot better however I still think there is a fuel issue. Gonna check the vent for petrol tank and check no kinks in the fuel line

Thanks, the faulty fuel pump is something I've just experienced hence the question.

I fitted a new mechanical one only 300 miles ago. It was fine for a while then just started to hit and miss until it gave out.

New one supplied FOC thankfully.

I have taken the faulty one apart and can't see why it failed. Poor aftermarket spares unfortunately even though it was Firstline.

you must have been unlcky, ive fitted 2 firstline ones to cars and theyve been and still are fine, and the reason we fitted them after the original failed, was because we were promised they were ethanol friendly, which was the reason the original failed, as it wasnt
