Nige65 Posted November 8, 2022 Report Posted November 8, 2022 Evening all, just wondering what type of radio/cassette/CD/Bluetooth stereos that the good people on this forum have fitted to their classic cars, retro (if still available), modern or retro looking with modern internals, would appreciate a photo or two and the technicalities of fitting modern. On a side note, tried looking for a nice set of Mk2 Escort mud flaps like the Ford RS ones but they seem to be hard to find, anyone have a suggestion. Thanks in advance Nige
The Transplanter Posted November 8, 2022 Report Posted November 8, 2022 I looked at this a bit lately and you can get those bluetooth modules, but many need hardwiring in. But if you can find a suitable old HU with an AUX you could wire in bluetooth through that input. I still have my pioneer KEX900 that I bought new in 1988 that I plan on doing the same to.

Sounds familiar - I picked up a 'pie in yet ear' mid 80s,early 90s I guess for my 79 RS only cos I wanted CD player - engine row is ok for a while but got to have tunes on a road trip LOL!

Wassat funny looking plastic cartridge fing he pushes in then? How do I stream my banging choons to it?
BaileyMex Posted November 9, 2022 Report Posted November 9, 2022 To be honest on full chat I cant hear the radio, I have to make do with a classic tune sung by The Weber Twins called 'barp barp barp' - it's catchy and you never tire of hearing it But when going slower or in traffic, a small 250w Alpine AMP is fed by a Kenwood head unit running two 6x9's - AUX in for streaming music, or a hidden USB if needed. I do have a Kenwood under seat active subwoofer that I was thinking of putting in, but didn't get round to it.
Nursebetty Posted November 10, 2022 Report Posted November 10, 2022 Ive gone the oem look stereo in my car, connects via bluetooth and i just run it from my phone. I dont want to listen to radio dribble while driving the escort, would rather something that ignites the teenage dreams. BUT if i was to do it again, id just put a oem radio in to keep the car looking period correct and throw a bluetooth speaker on the floor or dash. So much cheaper and easier. I think the unit i got was 800ish aud. 2
