RFChris Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 ...the Cortina will be a savage beastie when its got its 2.8 V6 sitting btween the struts....all that power won;t mean squat if i can't stop though. So, i was going to put 2.8i Capri calipers on the front and just up-rate the shoes on the rear (for now). Any of you lot got any better ideas? "Budget" is the key word though! Chirs
V8ian Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 Capri discs and calipers WILL NOT improve your braking, all they will do is make the brakes less prone to fade, the most cost efficient way to improve the stopping power is fir Mk2 grannie callipers, they have more pad area, same size pistons as the cortina, so Master cyl is ok, you will need capri 2.8i discs for this, as I think all grannie callipers were for vents, or, fit GOOD QUALITY performance pads, GreenStuff work for me, you mus ensure the discs are rust free and de glazed as well as no matter how good your pads are, glazed discs will not work efficiently.

Are grannie calipers 4 pots? I'd always been led to believe that the cheapest 4 pot upgrade was the trusty princess 4 pots. Rally design now do a 257mm vented disc that eliminates the pad overhang problem.

Nope there 2 pot,Princess are ok but heavy things...But do work so do the Mi16 calipers,Good set of Discs and pads as well And a rear disc coversion using 4x4 cosworth calipers and solid fiesta discs in a vcheap and easy upgrade
Arched Escy Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 I would say Princess 4 pots up front and a rear disc conversion.Don't go too big on rear calipers and you should stay on budget.

MK II Mark Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 I was thinking about sticking some Wilwood four pots on my escy but some one told me that they need re-threading as they are manufactured in America, is that true and if so is it difficult to do?.
