Nige65 Posted May 28, 2024 Report Posted May 28, 2024 I replaced the throttle cable on my Escort recently, x/flow with a 32/36DGAV with an item from Burton Power, annoyingly I've had an issue with it not returning fully when releasing the pedal thus causing the revs to remain high when changing gear or at times when I needed to slow down. The attached photos show the difference between the original (dirty white) and the replacement (black), the original returns fully due the tapered design but the replacements squared off end catches on the bulkhead grommet sleeve keeping the throttle open, I have modified it by reshaping but wondered if anyone else has had experience with this particular issue. I have sent this information to Burton Power for their thoughts and feedback as I believe that this is a design fault and could be dangerous.
colr6 Posted May 28, 2024 Report Posted May 28, 2024 Cut the outer cone down, it cured mine. I’ve usually found most of the non branded products from burton are cheap copies, poor quality and poor fit. I only use Burtons for branded products and other stuff if I have to. 1

Good idea with regards to cutting the cone, will do that when I get a spare few minutes 👍 1
Dave Knight Posted May 28, 2024 Report Posted May 28, 2024 (edited) That begs the question. So who does a throttle cable that’s fit for purpose? Edited May 28, 2024 by Dave Knight
YellowTaxi Posted May 29, 2024 Report Posted May 29, 2024 Strange because I had a replacement from burtons for my RS2000 and apart from the colour it was exactly the same as your original item. Perhaps you had an incorrectly moulded one.
Miniliteman Posted May 29, 2024 Report Posted May 29, 2024 Original Ford is obviously best. But when you do find a NOS Mk2 Escort throttle cable it probably has a hefty pricetag. I found a NOS Transit cable, same connections both ends just a few cm difference in length for 15 Euro.
