Ah Bless! James you're like the old dog that we cannot bring ourselves to take into the back field, and dispatch. We'll let you stay, sleeping by the Aga dreaming of chasing rabbits and letting off the occasional room clearing fart!🤭 3

quickrack Posted August 12 Author Report Posted August 12 Was looking decidedly sorry for itself so I've decided to do a tart up, repair etc on it. I knew it had a little rust so a certain amount of poking, cutting, swearing at it, patching etc occured. Nothing pretty as I will need to search out a pair of outer sills first. This will do to get it tested though.
quickrack Posted August 16 Author Report Posted August 16 (edited) The estate needed the gearbox oil filled. I had a little insulated pipe for a gas cooker and it worked well to avoid the squeezing stuff in technique 🙄🙂 Then I replaced this stud that was spinning in the hub. And polished the rust off the disc. I was about to do the other side but my son has hurt his knee and we are in the Minor Injury Unit now. A good clean and a certain amount of sticking the headliner cloth back up, two better tyres and it's testing time. Edited August 16 by quickrack
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted August 16 Moderator Report Posted August 16 Big job. Are you sure its worth it?

I can put rubbish or dirty stuff, tools and materials in it and not worry about it. And its actually really low mileage and so far utterly reliable. 1
quickrack Posted August 24 Author Report Posted August 24 So it's insured again. And taxed. Test was to be tomorrow but my son needs to see a surgeon, at the same time but 2 hrs away so test got pushed back. First trip out to a local show was fun and fraught 🙄🙄🙂 First a wheel starting coming loose. A retighten sorted that. But then at the turnoff for the Show, in heavy traffic, I stalled it. This is when I discovered the battery is no good. Yah!!🖕😲😄 Was pushed off the road. Borrowed some leads for a jump start and got into the Show. Forgot on leaving to give back the leads so I contacted the Club to get them to him. All in all it was a fun day The car was not really ready to "show" but I wanted to get out of the house. It's getting lowered, painted and reshod over the Autumn! Cheers for reading it you made it this far. 1
accord83 Posted August 25 Report Posted August 25 Stick some sticky back plastic wood on the sides and recreate a modern take on the Cortina Mk1 woodie 1 1
quickrack Posted August 25 Author Report Posted August 25 Maybe. One plan is to build a Bosozoku Style (temporary by using plywood or similar) stupidly large front and rear spoilers and skirts and like 6ft tall exhaust and go to a Cars n Coffee just being a tool 🙄😄😄 https://share.google/3w7nyP9KXvNhk4egw 1
