Has anyone fitted one or now of one fitted to an osf? As im thinking of putting one into my cortina mk2, i now they do a bellhousing conversion for a type 9 box as they are fitted in some westfield/kit car's. dose anyone now where i can get one? I think it would be a good conversion as they are good strong engines, there is plenty around and can get a complete car for about £200. They are well tuneable and are 120 bhp out of the box. Im suprised there is not more conversions of this type in osf why is this am i missing something? Cheer's.

Your missing nothing m8. The Toyota 4age engines are the bollox. 200 bhp with very little effort from a 1600.:mrgreen::mrgreen:

Your right fiestasteve when ford were making the BDA they where working with the japs on this very engine but ford pulled out and made there own 1600 16v, the BDA and toyota carryed on with it and the 4age was born. so some of the tecnology and design in the BDA came from the jap's !! so ive heard anyway ?!

The 4 age has the same bore and BDA, the same stroke as BDA, the same valve sizes as BDA the same size and shape ports as the BDA.

But,

The 4age crank is stronger, the con-rods are stronger, the top end design is 110% better design than BDA.

The engine is generally much more reliable and caplable of high miles without rebuilds.

Theyre a great engine. They use them in the AE86 driftcars, and theyre pretty bullet proof, and can get easy power and massive revs. They sound effing great too.

Id deffo recommend one as an alternative to an XE or Zetec.

had one in an escort :? great engine only thing to watch for is shell bearings ! but then again i was rallying mine

cant be beaten in ireland every second escort has them fitted in rallying .

people need to experiment more i think. theres loadsa great engines to be played with but ppl seem to follow suit and all go for xe's zetecs cosworths... bla bla

think outside the box.

personally i say keep it oldskool and keep it ford.
