V8ian Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 You have probably all seen Ron Hasletts Mk3 cortina Estate in CF a few months ago, what you are not probably aware of, is Ron has been suffering from cancer and had a major opp [one of many] last year, and is now in remission, At the CF day last year he auctioned a ride in his car and raised over £2500 on that day alone for the MaCMILLAN TRUST, He is back with a vengence this year and the car is running solid 9s, He has permission to carry a passenger this year again, the ride is to be auctioned again this year and run on the CF day, Ron has big hopes to raise more than the 2.5k this year, and with you help we hope its possible, ALL monies raised go to the Macmillan Trust, as Ron is being sponsored by his mates to get him there and for food, fuel and gas for the day, so there are no "EXPENSES" to be deducted!!!!!!!!!!!! There are not many things i get on my high horse about, but this is probably the only real one, and having dealt with the Macmillan trust personally in the past, I and many others would be gratfull for any help rendered. the auction is being kindly hosted on Buy Sell Cortina, cheers chaps. http://www.buysellcortina.co.uk/auction/ Of course the price of the ride is going to be far less than the £2500, and the rest of the money was raised by bucket shaking in the paddock last year So dig deep fellas, its not every day you get a chance to be driven up the strip in a fully street legal car 9 SECOND CAR If you dont win, or dont want to do a run, you can allways donate some mony via Ron or at the CF show, you know its for a GOOD cause, and like I said, you know ALL the monies raised are all going to the MacMillan Trust. regards Ian, And also. a big thanks to the Admin for allowing this post,

V8ian Posted March 28, 2007 Author Report Posted March 28, 2007 Well worth it all round I reckon I defo wont be able to afford the biddin But I'll be donatin, is there anyway of doin it online or via post as I doubt I'll be at CF show this year Cheers Fella, I have PMd Rick, who helping Ron do the auction, and I am sure there is way to donate, its much appreicated the nice comments about Mcmillans, and Just the amount of Hits the topic has received will heighten the awareness of what is happening on that day and possibly make people dig in their pockets because they now know the reason behind the bucket shaking is for a most worthy cause, A BIG thanks to all who have looked, and those who have left comments, Ron will the well chuffed, Ian

skim Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Well, Kathy Taylor won at £110. Now here's the bad bit - Our newly installed auction software had a bug in it where it didn't store the users email address on registration - so if you are Kathy Taylor, please PM me here & I'll pass on all the info you need. The Auction software is now debugged but it's a bit late for it now
skim Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 I've found her - she's the race secretary at Santa Pod.
skim Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 There's another chance to win a passenger ride in Insanerons Drag car. http://www.buysellcortina.co.uk/auction/item.php?id=3 Same as before bidding starts @ 99p but there is also a BUY it NOW option of £110 which the first auction finished on
insaneron Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 weve added a second day for the passenger rides were doing it on saturday 9 june this is going to be for the santa pod staff.2 of the runs have gone thanks to buy sell cortina with a third being given away by them on the day. eurodragster have secured one of the runs for the weekend which they intend to give away.classic ford also have one so it looks like were going to be busy that weekend. I'd also like to thank Gleeson Wright security who have come up with our £500 costs for the weekend so that everything we raise will go to Macmillan. If you would like to make a donation and arn't going the please contact me on pm me or 20 wendover road havant hants po9 1dn or 07710403378 thanks for the support
Admin Vista Posted April 18, 2007 Admin Report Posted April 18, 2007 Great idea, best of luck raising funds and congrats on the remission! Just a thought, have you considered raffling it as well as auctioning it? That way if you're doing more than one run everyone who buys a ticket stands a chance of a ride rather than it just being who has the deepest pockets in the auction
insaneron Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 I think that classic ford are going to raffle one of the rides on the day and buy sell cortina are raffling one on the day but we can't pre-sell tickets otherwise we need a gaming licence. sorry but the law is arse on these matters
skim Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 BuySellcortina are not raffling a ride - we're offering it as a prize which will be drawn out of a hat. All members that buy a Classic Ford day ticket from the buysellcortina website before 22nd April & have a cortina on the stand on the day will be eligable for the prize draw. We was going to raffle it but the law it to complicated to bother so we thought it's easier for us to pay for the ride & one of the members benefits as well as Macmillan Cancer.
insaneron Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 oops got it wrong again i'll just stick to driving
skim Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 oops got it wrong again i'll just stick to driving Not a problem Ron, we were looking into raffling the ride but it's just a nightmare to sort out. Prize draw is much easier legally.
insaneron Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 As I know some of you are aware we are holding our passenger runs at the classic ford show in june again. Well what can I say about the responce.Due to changes in the law weve had to raise our expences seperatly from our donations. We estimate that it will cost us £500 in fuel and nitrous so we put out an add with eurodragsterto help us raise some of it.What we got was a call from Matt Wright from GleesonWright security offering to pay all of it.We,ve also recieved a call from fellow racer and bloody nice guy Ray Comer with another donation.so we are going to put all the expences together and add the balence to our running total. Passenger runs Weve so far got rid of 4 for the Sunday with a couple to go and as yet we've still got all of saturday's to go but I think that will chage at the weekend as we are at Santapod and Saturdays runs are for Santapods staff on a first come first served. The Weekend we have secured film coverage from Power Point Communications we are also hopeful of having a reporter with us from Classic Ford Magazine. So far we have pledges of £425 after our expences so as you can see I'm blown away thank you all ron
Doc Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 i lost my Mother - in - Law to cancer last year A very worthwhile cause ...so.....i"ll see you by the donation bucket Ron thye looked after my mum in her last days too so im in .
